Gum on the mats

Glorified cleaning lady
Im getting ready to do a 04 Audi A4 Black/Beige and the owner just got gum on the mats. Since these mats are a very light beige color and basically new, I want to make sure I dont stain them when getting the gum out. I've actually never come across the gum on carpet/mat issue but I know that in general, baby oil will dissolve gum which I possibly would attempt but only on a much darker fabric. Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I'd try Goo Gone in an area to see if it stains to start. I think you will be OK with it. Most all mats and rugs are made of a plastic material so that should lift it!

ICE - freeze the gum till hard and it should pull right off! - :) - if you have any of the air in a can stuff , turn it upside down and spray the gum it will be rock hard in a second (like viagra for gum).

Yep, peanut buter works too, but you may have to deal with the oil.

I would go with the ice and a butter knife.

I use the canned air .. I have a can in my detailing arsenal. Werks great and no chemicals or stains from cleaning agents. Then scrape up with a spoon as you shop vac it.
