Griots PFM 16x16 for rinseless drying!!

Hey everyone,

First let me say I'm sorry for not having any pics. I didn't plan on writing a review on these towels but I was that blown away I couldn't resist.

These towels brought me out of silence and I want to say thanks for everything I've learned on this forum. So on to the towel....

I have never liked big fluffy plush towels because they are to cumbersome and they just don't really work for me. WW drying towels scare me because I like to lightly wipe when I dry rinseless washes to avoid streakes.

I bought two packs of the 16x16 PFM towels figuring 4 towels should be enough. Well did I ever underestimate the PFM! I used a full 2 towels and only the last couple touch up passes with a third. This was just for getting some excess that ran out of the handles and mirrors. This was on a 2015 subaru outback.

What I love about using the smaller towel is I can use all 8 sides if folded in 4's. This makes me feel a little more comfortable in case I missed a little dirt during the wash. I've never experienced a small towel picking up and holding this much water.

I use 4 of the blue and grey shine and buff towels for my wash media and I leave them pretty wet.

I really felt organized and methodical doing this RW. Like I had just perfected my RW process. I should mention I used UWW+ for my RW and I felt no drag at all when drying.

I love buying new towels and I lm always looking for the next best towel. We'll now I want the glass and wax removal 9x9 PFM's

These PFM'S are truly in a class of their own. Great job griots.

I'm not the reviewing type so I hope this wasn't to painful to read but thanks for checking this out.

Thanks for the reviews. I asked Griots (via email) if the 16x16 PFMs were the same as the larger ones......here is their response:

"The PFM Terry Weave Towels (item# 55586) measure 16” by 16” square and are intended to be used with Speed Shine or Spray-On Wax, or can be used to remove wax. The PFM Terry Weave Drying Towel (item# 55590) is made of the same microfiber material, but is thick, and is a larger 25” by 35” size and will give you the convenience of one-pass drying on your vehicle."

Glad to hear the smaller ones work great for drying too......even though Griots does not seem to think so

You beat me to the punch! I too didn't plan on writing a review, but after using the 16 x 16 PFM towels I felt obligated to share my positive thoughts.

I used the towel to dry my bike after a traditional wash with PA Rapidwaxx as a drying aid. I'll have a review up soon.

That response from Griot's makes sense. Since the thicker, larger towels can soak up more liquid they would choose that one to market as the drying towel. But the small ones still work great.

Here's a quick test by swiping a 16 x 16 PFM towel to dry a panel.

This panel was sprayed liberally with PA Rapidwaxx and was coated with PA Viking Coat about 4 weeks ago.

No pressure applied.

The haze left behind is from the Rapidwaxx.

Now time to buff away the Rapidwaxx residue. This towel is awesome for drying with a drying aid since it has a little bit of "bite". If you've ever used a super silky soft towel to remove spray wax or quick detailer residue, you know it just smears it around. This towel worked perfectly with barely any pressure.

I've been using the 16 x 16 PFM towel with Ultima Detail Spray Plus and it's been working amazing too.

:10: Griot's Garage hit it out of the park with this towel.

I'm sure the larger one is a little better but for rinseless these small ones are crazy!!

I just feel so much more comfortable drying with these.

I use the dp dryer for drying a traditional wash so I think the small ones would still be good to get drips from cracks and mirrors.

I wish Griots would come out with a couple different colors in the 16x16 PFM.

Ya good point. If you're using a blower, the small ones are all you need.

Good suggestion. I'm going to move this thread to the Griot's Garage sponsored forum for a better chance of them seeing it.

I agree, these towels are great! I did a review on AGO. I was able to dry an entire midsize car with one towel after a rinseless wash. The glass towels are darn good too. One side to mop up the majority of window cleaner and one side to finish and polish. At first I thought they were too small, but I found the 9 inch size just makes good sense when you're crawling around the interior, especially with the PFM level of absorbency.

yg1829- Thanks for posting up your review of the PFM towels! I too prefer to dry with smaller ones.
No problem you're welcome. Thanks for checking it out. I'm loving the small towels

I'm gonna be doing a rinseless on my truck this weekend so I'll try to get a few pics this time.

OK so I did an UWW+ RW on my sierra this morning and had amazing results again!! My truck is lacking a little in the LSP department too.

Working conditions in the garage

Truck was hit with the pressure washer on the way home from work yesterday and this is what it looked like

OK I had a hard time capturing this with the camera so I fully cleaned the hood first and then re sprayed it with solution.

One swipe with a fresh towel

One swipe over whole area. Notice a little haze in the light reflection.

A second pass over the area and that's all she wrote

The whole truck minus the wheels and side step was dried with three 16x16's.

To me that Pure Freakin Magic!!

yg1829- That *is* a lot of drying for three towels of that size, and it sounds like it went easily.
It really did go easily. I utilized all 24 sides too so that made me feel better in case I missed some dirt.

These puppies can hold some water!!

What colors would you like to see? Would you guys like to see a different size? Think outside the box.

Also, The PFM 16'x16" is the exact same design as the drying towel...just different sizes and liquid capacity. The Drying towel can hold nearly 6lbs of water!!

Awesome!!! Well I can't speak for everyone but maybe a blue of some sort? Probably a different shade than the glass cleaning towel...hmmmm maybe a bright yellow? Bright yellow would be awesome! The possibilities are really endless but I like those two colors.

I really like the 16x16 size. I still haven't ordered the 9x9 glass and wax towels but I think I'll like that size too.

I guess to me it would be cool to have some different color 16x16's for different tasks. I'd like to keep all my grey towels for drying.

Let's see what others say.

I'm lovin' my 16X16 PFM's as is, but since you asked, here are my suggestions: 1) Offer them in a 16X24 inch size, which, IMO would be ideal for a drying towel (about the same as the "Tim's Dirty Spot" towel, which I use and like also). 2) A second color choice, such as a yellow or light tan, makes it easier to detect any dirt picked up.
