Griot's Backing Pad -- Same as PC 18001?

Griot's claims their Porter Cable backing pad is "special" because it doesn't transfer heat to the paint. Yet, when I looked at the pad, it looks suspiciously like the Porter Cable 18001 pad. Does anyone know if it's the same part?



Also, which backing pad is better -- the 18001 or the 18002?
