Griot`s polishes #1,#2,#3

Hi everyone! I was wondering about Griot`s mashine polishes#1,#2,#3.Are they worth to get/i used search/ .Any information guys?Thanks.
 
Every product that Griots makes is worth it.Griots is expensive but after years of using there products I can say they work well.I also have Groits Fine Hand Polish and there Best of Show WAX which I think is great. They sell Carnuba in a tub(8 ozs) for 20 dollars that I use ofen and it has great results
 
I have been using Griot's 1, 2 and 3 polishes for several years now and I am very pleased with the results.



I have not tried very many other simular products, so I cannot really do any comparisons.



Until I became a Zainophile, I was also totally satisfied with Griots waxes, Speed Shine, etc.



And their customer service is fantastic.
 
I used Griots #2 Polish and their orange pad with my PC and it removed all the swirls out of my black jeep. I was very impressed with their results. The key to remember for good results is to make sure that the polish breaks down all the way while buffing.
 
I have been a Griot's fan for several years. Yes, a little expensive, but I have yet to be disappointed with any of their products. I just started using their Machine Polish #3 this year and was very pleased with the results. As with the Fine Hand Polish too with the areas I can not get thoroughly with the PC. IMHO, you can not go wrong with these polishes.
 
I have not tried the paste wax. I have been meaning to though. If you use an orbital, the Best of Show works very well.
 
ALLI can tell you is that there carnuba is easier to work(real easy) with but there best in show wax is great if you use a pc, by hand its a little extra work but worth it . either way you can go wrong
 
I have all 3 and here's my assessment:

Very very mild polish, use it on a car thats new or almost new, or very few if any swirls.



#2

Great all around polish for typical swirl marks. Use this first, then change pads, and finish up with #3.

Most abrasive, and for use on finishes that are full of nasty or abused clear coats. Also great for doing areas after you've touch-up painted and sanded your finish (this is what I bought it for, since my BMW is only a year old) Here's a link to that project:

So, unless you've really got an abused finish, skip #1 and just go with #2 if needed, or just #3 if your finish is practically swirl free.



Great product, unfortunately I live about 7 miles from the factory/outlet store, so it hurts my pocket book! :D
 
According to Mark G., the #2 man and co-owner of Griots who I speak to in person everytime I visit, they both contain 33% carnauba.



My OWN opinion/analysis is this:



If applying by Porter Cable, you have to make SURE that your foam pad is dampened (not wet) with water or the BOS wax is very difficult to remove from a freshly polished or paint-cleaned surface containing no wax. If you do it by hand or by PC, use very little.



The Carnauba is my favorite of the two. Easy to apply, easy to remove, never have to worry about using too much, it removes very easy. I simply mash it up with a fork, then spread it on the PC pad to apply.



I've also used the Carnauba, and topped it with the BOS wax, in which case the BOS wax was easily removed.



(My philosophy is this: Its not the wax product you use that makes a successful finish look great, its the preparation of the paint surface (clay, polish)and application/removal process.)
 
Hi guy's, first post here. I had this place bookmarked, glad I found it.



I'll step in here too and give my review on Griot's polishes and Best Of Show wax.



I have been using the Porter Cable system now for a few years and love it. I'd never go back to waxing again by hand.

I found out about Griot's products less than two years ago, and also found out I only live 2o minutes away from them.



I am a firm believer in the Best Of Show wax. I wax my 4Runner about 3 times a year at most, and usually the last time is in August until the following April or May.

The rig sits out all winter long and the BOS wax beads water all winter long. It lasts a lot longer than Mr. Griot gives it credit.

My white paint is blinding to look at too in the sun.

I have never seen a wax like this that produces shine & depth.



Here are a few pics from May when I last Porter Cable'd the rig. I did not use the polish, I only power Clayed with the PC, and then put on the BOS.











Griot's recently put a picture of my 4Runner in their summer catalogs too.



This looks like a very cool forum to get detail info, and I can see staying up late doing some reading :p

I have seen your truck in the catalogs! Welcome! I have to agree with you on the BOS. I went back to Blitz for S's and giggles last week and have to say, I was more happy with the results of the BOS over the Blitz. However, on my GF's Honda, I find the opposite.
 
Thanks Red. I had wrote them last August when I had won at the Boeing car show, but they ran it without a pic.



I was really surprised to see myself in there again this year with the picture.

A guy on that 4Runner forum had tipped me off I was in the catalog again.

:confused: power clayed?? I can't quite get my head around how one would clay with a PC.
