Hey guys! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm currently 19 and from Brazil. Been detailing as a hobby for around 1.5 years now. Always been on the Internet looking for further information, tips and experiences to be shared. This week the rest of my polishing equipment is arriving at my house. Already went over to the dark side and got myself a dewalt 849 rotary polisher. Going to exexperiment with meg's 105/205 and lc 6,5" ccs pads that are arriving. It's going to be my first time polishing and I'm quite anxious to start the process. Read a lot already about rotary usage and the dangers it implies, but also loved the capabilities of the machine.

If you guys have any sort of tips you would like to give about rotary polishing, it will be greatly appreciated. The car that will be polished is a 2011 hyundai i30 hatchback in silver. It is in medium marring/swirled condition due to the fact that it was previously owned by my mom :/

Thanks for the input!
Nice to be here on the forum.

welcome to AF. be careful while learning with the rotary, use slower speeds, keep the pad flat, keep it moving, and just let the weight of the rotary do the work. avoid panel edges and don't bear down on the polisher to help avoid the hazard of burning through the paint.

Welcome! I'd like to personally thank your country for creating Coxinha's :) I try to go every weekend to a local brazillian bakery.

(I'm also addicted to empanadas)

On a rotary, I like using the W-66 Backing Plate from Meguiars. The soft foam just makes controlling rotary polishers much easier. Especially on curved panels.
