What's that smell?
Woman on my block just got this new GP and asked me to detail it for her. The paint was horrible out of the dealer with a lot of defects and rail dust. I decided to go SSR1, clay and Z5. I think it came out great, although the weather was a bit too overcast to get real good pics.
 
The wheels are chrome. I used EO chrome wheel cleaner followed by Protect-All Polish Wax. The week before, I cleaned the tires with EO A2Z and conditioned the tires with Vinylex, a water-based dressing, to soak into and condition the rubber. This week, I used Endurance. I like to start with a water-based dressing every once in a while to preserve the rubber. That Protect-All stuff works really well and is almost a fast as QD. I've used Z5 over SSR1 on several cars and it's a great combo. After the SSR1, I like to wipe down the panel with some QEW or S&W to remove any residue and hit it with a spritz of Z6 just to prepare the surface for the Z5. I guess an ultimate purist would go SSR1, full Z7 wash, Z6 and Z5, but it just takes too much time for the extra wash/dry and I haven't noticed any problems doing it my way.

Have you ever used Protect-All on the entire car? I have some, but have only used it in my house on my appliances. Maybe I'll take it outside if it does a good job on car paint.
 
I tried it on a small section of my neigbor's Taurus and it seemed to be ok. I don't think it would hurt anything and it might be a good solution for hard to get to spots like inside emblems or whatever. I was also thinking of trying it on the front bumper prior to a road trip as it seems to be extremely slick for short periods of time and would probably keep bugs from sticking for a few days. They say you can use it as a tire dressing as well, although I haven't tried it. According to the company, we've all be sold a huge bill of goods as to how many products we need, and to a point, they're probably right, but at the same time, they market Protect-All Polish, Wax and Treatment for cars and Shine for the home and they are the exact same product! In any case, I really like their products in general and I used QEW prior to taking the pics as I did the detail the other day and the car was filthy with water spots.

Interesting combo................. I figured SSR1 and "Z" would work, as the SSR line doesn't leave any wax/silicone/oils behind.
