Graduated to Rotary. . . .

I gradually progressed to my rotary. I was useing the trust worthy PC for quit some time now. I have learned that the rotary isnt all that difficult to use. Patience has been my best weapon, not product or pad's.

I have been by passing the Clay. I go with a megs pad with PB Polish followed by EX-P. IMHO I cant tell the difference when I Clay it or when I dont. The durantion of the product last the same amount of time(6 months).

Is bypassing the Clay a bad thing?

I graudated to rotary today...I think you should still clay your vehicle atleast once a year even if it's a garage queen. Just use the Sonus Ultra fin

It's a good idea to clay but sometimes it's just a luxury, especially if you are doing a two step process anyway as in compounding then using a finishing polish. If the car is real bad then I'd clay though.

Someday I will get up the courage to use a rotary :( For now...I graduated myself to a cyclo, should arrive Monday!

Congrats on learning to use it properly! Which rotary are you working with?

Depends on the car.

Claying takes surface contaminants off the paint. If you do that, then polish/seal/wax, then I doubt you would need to clay once more when the wax/sealant needs to be reaplied. Some cases on cars that Ive washed, you can just feel the texture of the paint, and know.

The D-849. I really like it, and it isnt as heavy as alot of people say it is.

Thx.

Yeah I have been working with not only my viehicles, but also freinds.

You would'nt want to come out this way, 113 today with 80% humidity, J/K but it is sticky. I have a Concord lined up for tomorrow. I plan on statrting no later than 8:00am. My plan is to be done by noon.

I'm gonna start off with PB's SSR-2. Then go with there Polish/Carnuba Blue. Top it with some Natty's Blue. It's a metalic blue, so its gonna look really wet when I'm done with it.

Nice....im sure they will be finatic about the results...i always love when i finsh and the wax or sealant of my choice has haze and it ready to remove as i wipe it i see the shine then at the end stand bak admire the shine then feel how slick it is.... :2thumbs:

dont forget stay cool and hydrated

congrats with taking the plunge, I did so myself recently. The biggest issue I find with rotary's is product gets splashed all over the place when you start, even with a small amount of product.

A couple months ago I used some RC and alot of SMR around the sides of a on a dark red Buick Terraza (minivan). It had been through the carwash too many times, so it had lots of deep swirls. Anyways after I applied paint sealant, and called it a day. It sat on the lot for several months and it finally sold this week. I washed it today and realized.... holy cow, there's spots of compound still on the roof!! :doh
