Got To Ride In A Ferrari!!!!!!!

zesty-man

how do ya like it?
well, for the first time ever, i got to sit AND ride in a ferrari. even though it was for 2 minutes, it was really cool. heres how the story goes...

on sunday i was at private tennis lessons, and my coach coaches a vasity team for a school called punahou, one of the top private schools. anyways, he told me that today one of his kids mikey was gonna be driving a 360 modena that he rented for a day, costing him 1200 bucks...... so after my lesson was over, i waited for about 10 minutes, and sure enough i hear this roaring, like a super big muffler or something come down the street. it was echoing everywhere. he put it into park, and a nissian spec V and the 360 both started to rev their engines. anyways, the guy mikey asked my coach if he wanted a ride, but my coach had to say no, because he was teaching someone else. then my coach goes and tells me, tyler, go look at the car. i said sure, and started going there. then, my coach yells out that im coming over. keep in mind that i dont know any of these guys, theyre from a different school, and older tnan me. anyways, i get there, and he says, wanna go for a ride? i said, uhhh sure.

it took me about 2 minutes to figure out how to open the door, because i didnt wanna break anything. so anyways, i got in and we were off. first he told his friends that he was going here and back. no big deal. so first, goes onto the road, goes about 20 mph, and just floors it. basically, we went for about 20 mph to 80 mph in less than 4 seconds. it was the most fun of my life, but at the same time, it was the scarriest thing thats happened in my life. i was scared that either a kid was gonna run out onto the street, or a car was gonna come in front of us. keep in mind that we were in a residential area, where the speed limit is 25 mph :O. so anyways, we zoomed all the way down the street, turned around, and went back, wayyy slower. i think we went back at around 40ish. lol, when we were turning around, mikey's friend in the spec V was like, "what the hell was that???". i guess he didnt expect mikey ot go THAT fast in a residential area... man, this guy mikey was a nice guy, that loved cars. sure the 360 was dirty and full with swirls, but i didnt really care, because it was just a rental. just being in the car, and listening to the engine roar, as my body was pinned against the back of the seat, and my heart beating super fast. now THAT was the most fun ive ever had in my life, something ill never forget.

didnt get any pics, because i dont usually bring my digital camera to tennis practice :(

.....just wait till you get to drive one!!! That's awesome that you got to ride one, but unless I knew something big was going to go down, I wouldn't pay $1200/day to drive it.

Perhaps you should find out where he rented it from and offer your services to the rental company??? High-end rentals should be prestine. :)

Sounds like you had some fun. You certainly don't forget your first ride in a "real" car or the first time you get to drive one.

before i drive a ferrari, maybe i should learn manual :lmfao

ah, and as for the cost, i think the special occasion was that he was gonna go to college sometime this week. lucky guy!

and as for detailing exotic cars, that would really be a dream job. however, i think i still lack the credentials to be detailing for that kinda company. maybe in a year ill offer my services to them :).

Less than 1% of the world's population have ever driven a Ferrari... I bet a good number of them are detailers!
Have you driven one Nick?

im sure it was a fun and unforgetful experience but sorry to say that that was really stupid and ignorant to be going that fast in a residential area.knowing full well what the consequences could be if anything happened to the both of you or anyone else aside from that.later on whos gonna care about the car when someones life might have been put in danger, much less the both of you huh?also if there were any cops around you were lucky they didnt tag you both.just something to think about.figured some ppl learn after so many accidents related to speeding/racing but i guess not till it happens to ones self.you live only once.live it long.enjoy it while u can.

yea, he didnt tell me that he was gonna go that fast, and i wasnt expecting him to really open up the engine that much. that place is residential, but its sorta like nimitiz highway, where no one really obeys the speed limit. however, thats probably no excuse for going 80 mph. it was prettty straight, with one curve.

Awesome! Great thrills eh?

A number of years ago while I was detailing at Ferrari of Los Gatos, (about 50 South of San Francisco) I had the opportunity to drive many of them and frequently. My fav was the F50, drives like a go-kart and will do 60 in 1st gear!

New members, specifically those who have never been on message boards before, tend not to realize about not bumping older threads when running searches. Just one of those subtle nuances of forum ettiquite that'll get picked up over time....

HOLY CRAP! What a surprise to see this thread pop back up and an auto notification appear in my inbox.....

"Bump" is basically message board slang that means much the same as "To The Top (TTT)." What that refers to is "bumping" a thread/topic "to the top" of the forum listing so that more people will see it and likely respond to it.

Hope that helps :howdy

MMMM...was not aware of a time limit for posting on a thread that was of intersest to the reader.

I cetainly post on anything that is of interest to me at the time of the search. Of course, I am not an expert of the subtle nuances of forum etiquette.

zestyman where are you??????????????????
Look at it this way you are a teenager, driving a BMW, living in Hawaii.
Where would you be on a computer forum, or spending time at the beach with the ladies :naughty

I also wasn't aware of this. From time to time I will look at some of the older threads. I don't see a problem with making a reply to one of them, even if it's 2 years old. I would think that if this was a problem all of the threads over a certain time peroid would be locked. That would really keep Dwayne and The Fuzz busy!

I would be at the beach!

There is no time limit to posting. You may not get an answer from the original poster, or the information may have become outdated. But nothing says that you can't do it.

 OK, I can see we're going to have some comprehension issues here.

Now, let me clarify this as simply as possible. I've always heard a general rule is that any thread more than 2-3 months old shouldn't be bumped, rather it should just be linked to in your new thread. Granted this isn't a "golden rule" or some kind of "offense," but just a guideline to stick to.

Jeez, you'd think I was telling the guy he did something that could/should get him banned!! :bubba
