ok guys im in for good now, i just downloaded the full ebook and in the process of printing it!

wow. ok.

so im gonna practice a bit on one of my older cars (77 bmw 6 series, BLACK)...

also, I found a Black & Decker Car Polisher, random orbit action. (this thing is a mini beast, really fast).. found in my garage, who would have thought?!?

WHAT CAN I DO WITH IT? polish of course, but any other cool things?

also, what do you guys recommend for exterior detailing when its wet out.. in my part of SoCal it just started raining a few days ago.. what can i do in my garage to clean the car and protect it?

THANKS!!!

does thing belong in a museum?

i'm also in southern california and i try not to do anything when it rains. unfortunately for me i just washed on thursday. now it's all wet.

the forecast looks promising for tomorrow so you could wait until tomorrow to do your wash, polish and wax.

bonnets, ack! I would find out if you can retrofit a velcro backing plate on it to use the foam pads on it. Other than that it looks to be a decent machine.... is it speed-adjustable??

If it is, then what speed range does it have?

IF not, then how fast does it go?

its got a foam pad just about and inch thick... it's tough foam but, yea.. right under the - "new" 8" terrycloth bonnet -

as for speed .. ON/OFF!

Wow, that's a different-looking design. Here's the million-dollar question: ;) How many amps does it have and what's its speed (usually in orbits/min or OPM)? It usually has these labelled on the machine somewhere.

2500 OPM, 3 amps...

what does this mean?
While 2500 OPM is on the slow side (lowest speed setting on the PC), 3 amps is GOOD! (And frankly, kinda surprising too...) To give you an idea, the PC is rated at 3.7 amps, so you should have plenty of power to lean on it if you have to. This is definitely a cut above the usual non-PC orbital buffers. :up The only disadvantage is that you don't get to swap foam pads like a PC - oh well.

The OPM rating just means you get 2500 orbital "jiggles" per minute! :D

soooo i am not experience at this... can i hurt my car by using this B&D polisher? the only thing adjustable on it is the cloth bonnet. 8".

Just treat it like a slow PC and keep your stuff clean. Remember: orbital polishers are just faster hands. Get some more bonnets for it too (preferably quality ones). Besides terry, I know you can also find wool and foam bonnets, although I have no clue what the role of the foam bonnet is and how it compares to the terry...

Search around for some usage tips, and download Griot's PC use PDF file and David's PC movie. Good luck. :)
