Got Products - Now What? Lot's of ???'s

I wish . . .
OK, I finally bit the bullet and ordered all kinds of lovely smelling products from Steve, and now they're in my garage calling me, but I'm afraid to start 'cuz I don't want to mess up on my '04 Mojave Mist Honda CRV!

I have the following:
Bold n Bright Tire Dressing*
Trim Restorer*
Natural Look Dressing*
ClayBar
SSR #2
Poorboy's Polish
EX-P Sealant
Natty's (but not til weather cools down!)
Oh, and lots of MF's and PVA applicators!

I've listed them in the order in which I think I'll be using them - should I do the tires first, then the interior, then the exterior? I don't want to get part way through a process and then have to stop for a week, so I may have to put if off 'til 4th of July weekend due to family commitments.

I don't think I'll need to use the SSR on this car (it's too new), but bought it for my '85 Civic which my son will be doing at the same time.

I haven't bought a PC yet, can I do all these by hand?

Also, I've seen messages about mixing/diluting some of the products - any tips or suggestions?

I did repackage the ones w/ *'s into spray bottles for ease of application.

Any help/guidance would be GREATLY appreciated as I'm from the TW school of car care, and have just recently learned that there's a whole new world out there!

Thanks again & sorry for the long post . .

I usually separate interior details from exterior details on my personal vehicles. Tires would be included as part of the exterior detail.

Here are my 2 cents regarding your process -

Interior:
Vacuum
Clean carpets and upholstery if necessary
Natural look on leather and vinyl surfaces (precede with cleaners if needed)

Exterior:
Wash
Clay
Re-wash
SSR2
Pro Polish (use this product sparingly and be sure to let it thoroughly dry before wiping off the residue)
first layer of EX-P
BnB on tires
second layer of EX-P (at least 24 hours after the first)
Natty's (at least 24 hours after the second coat of EX-P)
Trim Restorer

You could consider stopping at just one layer of EX-P and waiting until after your next washing to apply the second layer. Same thoughts regarding the application of Natty's. There's no need to do everying at one sitting for your personal cars. There are logical places to take a break during the process.

All Poorboy's products can be used by hand, though you may have greater success at using the SSRs and polishes with a PC. I prefer to NOT mix or dilute any of the PB products you listed.

Just my 2 cents. Hope you find it helpful. :dunno

Thanks for sharing your insights and experience. They're certainly worth more than $ .02!!!!

Glad to hear that it doesn't have to be done all at once, cuz I don't think I'm up to that!

Being that the CRV is new, I hoping that claying will be enough and I won't need to use the SSR-2 on it. I've been very careful parking (thank goodness for my handicap hanger!) and it's only seen MF's.

I bought the SSR-2 for my old Civic Wagon, which was not treated as well over the years. It's 20 year old paint is still in very good shape with the exception of parking lot dings and stone chips. I did clay and polish the hood on it just to see how it would turn out, and it's truly amazing!!!

Now if I could just get rid of these family commitments & work (UGH!!), I could go play in the garage!

I'll post pics when done,

Norah

I also do exterior and interior on different days. I always save dressing the tires for the last step, it's the finishing touch.

Norah - Since the CRV is new, you can most likely skip the SSR2 step for the exterior. For the interior, consider getting some fabric/carpet protectant like Scotchgard. You have the opportunity to minimize any future staining by treating your fabric now.

When using Pro Polish, remember that a little goes a long way. Use far less product than you normally use, and you should be okay. Use the Trim Restorer as the last exterior step before taking a break in the process (after EX-P or Natty's). TR will help clean up any residue from the preceding steps.

my deatiling is a never-ending process. I Spray & Wipe almost daily and do the BnB almost daily. Another day I might vac and NL the interior (spray Stoners Invisible Glass on the towel and then clean the windows and when doing the Natural Look also spray it on the rag/towel and spread....avoids overspray). Another day I'll wipe the engine (hmmm...today is that day...it's been a while), another day I might wash, clay and PP, then the next day S&W and then EX-P.

It's always an ongoing thing, not a one or two day project. Hmmmm, I saw last night that the door jambs need some attention today too.

I also need to get to the high pressure car wash and do the undercarraige.

See...ongoing process...everyday it's something. I keep a check list to be sure everything gets done monthly or as it's needed.
