Got keyed in a big way

Last night while at my 2nd job, My truck got keyed on the bed, rear door, and front door on the right side. It also looks as if they took large landscaping river stones and threw them at the right door, left bed rail, right rocker panel, and lower left bed side. The stones were laying in the street. No chance of PDR to fix the dents since there is paint damage and the scratches are all the way to the primer and metal in most of the scratches. I called the police and also work. Work told me that where I parked there is a resident that has a problem with people parking there. Some other people that have parked there also had some sort of vandalism. I will post picks bit the 15 feet of scratches and sents has me sick to my stomache at this moment. Pics to follow soon. Sorry... rant mode off

Well, the resident sounds real adult, vandalizing cars instead of calling the police? Why didn't your work call the police about it when employee vehicles are getting vandalized? Where you parked may be illegal (or not), but certainly vandalism is. Even if there is no proof, the police should be talking to the "suspect" about it and making clear that it is a crime, etc.

Im parked on a public street. Its off a main road. No problem parking there. Its in a business district and parking is free. The police cant do a thing about it since nobody saw the damage being done. They just cant walk up to this guy and question him. Thats harrassment on their part towards him. Im off tomorrow night. My truck is all tinted out so nothing can be seen inside. I have a video camera and tripod that I can set up in the back seat and run off a power inverter. I willl just set it on extended play and let it record for 3 hours. I will come back and change the tape if needed. The damage is done and if it is him and tries to do more, It will be on tape.

They can certainly investigate multiple acts of vandalism in the area by questioning the residents in the area about it. How do you know that nobody saw anything if that hasn't been done? What did the police say when you called them? Did you tell them that other vehicles have been vandalized? Did they generate a report? Sometimes the police need to be, um, convinced that something needs to be done (squeaky wheel theory). How about your employer? Have they called? To complain? They are the ones who pay the taxes (and ultimately the cops salaries), and will lose their employees if parking isn't safe.

I don't know where this is, but, of course, if people are getting murdered in that neighborhood, the cops likely won't give a crap about your car.

EDIT: Not trying to give you a hard time, I know you must be really upset. :(

Thats the problem Setec..... This is in New Brunswick NJ. Just across the street from New Brunswick high school. They have more to be concerned about than a guy who is nuts about his truck. I asked them what they could do about it since there were other problems. No other police reports were made since everybody else at work drives a beater. I think the newest car is an 88 blazer as far as employees go.

Here are the pics

2 things come to mind... #1) Bait car #2) Lying in wait... Actually, that would not be the proper way to handle the situation, but revenge is the first thing that comes to everybody's mind when you hear about something like this. SOOOOO very sorry to see and hear about this! :scared:

Well, I'm not a legal expert, but would this be considered entrapment? I've heard of a few stories where the police would say setup some bike on a bike rack unlatched, and wait for a bike thief to steal the bike. The thief would go free because his defense was something like, "well, if you hadn't setup that bike for me to steal, I wouldn't have stolen it."

I've heard similar stories like this. It sounds like bullsh*t to me, but I don't know. Maybe a detailing lawyer can give us the scoop.

That's such a nice truck too. I'm really sorry to hear that this happened. I hate people that do sh*t like that to other people's property.

Hmm... can you set up your car to explode if something like this happened again? :hairpull

All kidding aside, it's unfortunate what happened to your truck. At first, I would think a good ***-kicking would be in order but eventually I'd cool off and just let it go. There's just some areas of town where you shouldn't bring your pristine-conditioned vehicle.

I don't think by "laying in wait" he meant to arrest. I think he meant "laying in wait" to give a sound beating. :D

That jacka** deserves more then a sound beating .

:wall :wall :wall :wall :wall

If nobody can see inside I would just sit in the truck and wait for this person to come back .
