Got in a terrible accident today

Was out with a buddy of mine this afternoon for lunch. We were on our way home when a car pulled out from a gas station, cut across two lanes of traffic, and caused me and two of my friends to get in what was almost a deadly accident. I dont know how I made it out alive, I broke the bones in the left side of my face, my friend (the driver) had two big gashes in his head, and the third passanger was fine. When the car cut us off we slammed on the brakes, skidded out of control, went up onto the median and rolled 3-4 times. We were pretty messed up, somehow my shoes got ejected out of the vehicle, and I broke some bones. We were in the hospital today, but got released after 6 hours there. I'm going to need surgery next week, but I am very thankful to still be alive, really don't know how I made it. If I wasn't wearing a seatbelt I would have been ejected from the car and died right then and there. So wear your seatbelts!! I never thought I would say it, but it saved my life. Here is a picture, totalled:( Funny thing is, I had a detail scheduled for today, so I should have never been out on the road. But the weather was supposed to rain so we cancelled it, and I went out for lunch and almost didn't come back. Very scary, I'm still pretty shaken up, but it could have been much worse.

Glad you're reasonably ok. You're right looks like it could have been much worse.
Good luck with your surgery. Wish you a speedy recovery.
If you need sometihng, just give a shout.

Will do! Doesn't look like I'll be detailing for a couple weeks though. They said just take it easy,no driving, no sports, no physical activity...What am I to do, Guess I'll be spending awhile on the forums

I am really sorry to hear about your accident, I got lucky like that once when an 18 wheeler smashed me off a highway but I had not a scratch thanks to my seatbelts and a power greater than myself. Speedy recovery to you and your friends

I had to have facial reconstruction surgery years ago.
They drilled holes in my skull and wired me together.

It will take a few weeks to heal but you will be fine, like you say it could have been a lot worse.

When I started reading your post I thought how did they roll from just a skid but when I scrolled down to the picture and saw those big tires on that jacked up jeep it was clear what happened, those things are dangerous.

Good luck with the surgery.

wow thank god ur alive....

Man, makes me sick to hear about this and seeing the pictures is even worse. When you've been in a serious accident it doesn't take too much imagination to relive the incident. Your story did just that to me. I'm really sorry that this happened to you and I'm glad you have faired as well as you did. I hope the surgery turns out to be successful, relatively pain free and the healing complete. What about the car that caused the accident? Did they stop? Did they get ticketed? Are they insured.

The one who caused the accident slowed down, then peeled off away from the scene...Nobody got any plates because everyone was concentrated on putting the fire out and getting us all out of the car. All I remember is it was a Red Corolla or Sentra, older model...They were pulling out of a gas station so hopefully the camera's got something

Dang. That is scary. I suppose the Jeep is totaled?
Yeah the jeep is totalled, nothing left.

Pretty sobering pictures. Sounds like the Jeep's build held up in protecting you guys from any further injuries.

As mentioned by Black Bart, vehicles modded for off-road (lifts, over-sized tires and wheels) are often unstable at even normal street speeds.

My bet is that the driver whose actions caused this reaction never even stopped to witness the results of his/her carelessness.

Good luck with the surgery and recovery!

We went to go see it today, to get anything we could out of it. Hard to believe I came out of that with only minor injuries. I'm in tons of pain, but by looking at me you would have no idea I was in an accident as bad as this. Thanks for all the get well wishes guys!

Doesn't look like anyone to try but with insurance companies one never knows. I sure wouldn't let them try to put it back together.

If that thing did a couple flips it held up very well.
I would have expected to see more severe damage, didn't even break the headlights other than one fender and windshield it is not too bad.

Some one should buy that real cheap and make a trail machine out of it since it would get all beat up on the trail anyway.

Wow, Even wearing your seatbelt, your a lucky young man you didn't crack your coconut. Those bikini tops provide nothing but UV protection
