I was wondering what you guys used to top your Opti seal? I am planning on doing my car soon before this winter weather hits. Would Collinite 845 or 476 be any good? Let me know im a noob to all this stuff. Thanks...

or just use OCW v2 after washing and keep it protected that way?

they play very well together and look great

Id say that 845 would last longer through the winter, I usually top whatever happens to be on my car before winter with 2 coats of 845 and it lasts easily through Winter

More Opti-seal! I find that multiple coats really pour on the wetness and give the impression of a thicker clear. Plus, you can apply like 3-4 coats in an hour.

Doesn't OS need 12 hrs. between coats to cross link?

Same here. Now that the frickin' grackles are back (flying rodents), I've noticed that OS stands up very well to bird droppings.

If anything, Opti-Seal, in my opinion, should be topped over a wax not vice versa. I would start with 476 or whatever and then top it with Optiseal. Why cover up the good looks Optis-seal has to offer?

Legacy, nope, OOS doesn't need long curing times. You can apply further coats in a 30 minute sequence. If you want to let it cure longer, wait an hour between layers.

I would disagree. Opti-Seal generally has a longer expectancy than your average wax. Therefore, when the wax fails you'll have a Opti-Seal left for the long-term protection. It's similar to the earth's crust :D, you have the easily disposable top soil (wax) and the strong clay base (sealant) underneath. I wouldn't comfortable applying Opti-Seal on a wax anyway, I imagine it wouldn't bond as well. Personally, I feel a top grade carnauba glow provides much more eye candy than Opti-Seal any day.

F.Y.I. 476 is not you average wax

it will last longer then most sealants

IIRC Opti-Seal was make to bond over waxes

Right, hence the word average. I don't believe I referenced 476? :nixweiss

Nope. This is from Optimum's website:

"Optimum Opti-Seal is a revolutionary paint protection formula that creates unmatched slickness and gloss with just a few drops per vehicle. One ounce completely seals and protects 4-5 cars! This product leaves no residue and requires no buffing. Enjoy months of durable polymer protection with just drops of Opti-Seal.

Optimum Opti-Seal is a true paint sealant with no cleaning properties. It seals and protects paint under a crystal clear barrier of cross-linked polymers. Dirt, moisture, oil, and UV radiation are all sealed out of the paint to maintain optimum gloss. It is a spray sealant that provides the durability of traditional sealants in minutes.

The science behind Opti-Seal is incredible. The hyper concentrated polymer sealant begins cross-linking as soon as it hits the paint. Opti-Seal flashes almost immediately to leave a polymer film on the paint. Opti-Seal is not a short-cut product. It is a state-of-the-art, stand-alone spray sealant that provides real, durable protection for paint, plastic trim, and wheels. This is a last step product, not a maintenance product. After polishing, apply Opti-Seal and walk away. Opti-Seal is the only paint protection your vehicle needs.

Opti-Seal is crystal clear in the bottle and on the paint. Applied very thinly, it will not streak or cloud. Simply spray, wipe, and walk away. Opti-Seal leaves absolutely no residue to buff off. Paint protection couldn’t be any easier!

Opti-Seal contains no fillers or cleaners. This is a true paint sealant. If your vehicle has some light imperfections, use Optimum Poli-Seal or Optimum Polish for removing oxidation and any other paint correction. Top the smooth, shiny finish with Opti-Seal for added protection and gloss. Opti-Seal can also be used as a base coat under Optimum Car Wax or any other car wax."

why nope?

per your quote they say to use poli-seal

their one step polish and wax and then Opti-seal over it

so as I sayed it will bond over a wax
