Good and Bad day

First the good....

I used my PC for the first time today and didnt do too bad of a job (in my opinion). I only did the roof of my car because it had some bad oxidation. I kept the process light, since it was my first time and I didnt want to cut to deep with everything.

Megs wash

Megs clay

Megs wash

OC/ orange pad

P21S/ white pad

Megs #26 Yellow wax/ black pad

NXT Paste by hand

Sorry I dont have a before pic, but here is an after. There is still a little oxidation, but it looks MUCH better than before.

Here comes the BAD

I turned around to look at my car when I got home today to see what from far away looked like mud. I thought "thats fine, I will wash it off". Upon further inspection, I found that it is PAINT. Yes, PAINT. I must have ran over something on my way home that sent this white paint all down the lower passenger side of my car. It is even inside the wheel wells and on the rims and tires. Now I need all you autopians help. I am able to scratch it off with my fingernail, but I know that isnt a good idea at all. Am I looking at a possible re-paint of this area of my car?

I would suggest you pick up some of these:

Do you have any clue where you got this paint splatter from? I would bring it to whoever caused the paint to be on the road and give them the bill.

I have no idea where the paint came from, the only thing I can think of is newly painted lines on the road but I dont think they would cause that much paint to splatter. I ordered some of those wipes, I really hope they do the trick.

They should; I've used them and they did a nice job. I'd also order some clay if you don't already have some. The wipes will probably miss some small spots - clay will take care of that.

I've removed yellow line paint splatters (bad, but not as bad as what you have) from one of our kids' cars with clay. Between those wipes (I have never tried them) and some clay (if needed) you should be OK. You might have to buff out some minor marring when finished. This is when a good wax or sealer on the finish would have made the job a tad easier.

I *just now* remembered something. My wife's aunts were up visiting her mother a couple of months back and she said one of their newer cars got road paint all over it (they didn't know where it came from either). I thought this was a prelude to me going over and fixing it, but she said they bought some WD-40 and it took it all off..... it's worth a try..... the sooner you get it off the easier it will be.

Make sure you report back on how things turned out... and good luck!

Edit: It looks like those wipes would be something nice to have around... I'll have to order some.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am picking up some WD40 this afternoon. Someone suggested Spray9, but I have never heard of that. Has anybody had any experience with this stuff? I was told I could get it at lows, so I might get some when I get the WD40.

Yesterday I was able to get all the paint off by using WD40 and the high pressure water at a local self wash place. This weekend I am planning on giving it a good cleaning to make sure there is no more WD40 or paint on it. Thanks for the help.

Glad the WD-40 worked out for you....... I never thought I'd learn a detailing trick from one of my wife's aunts :o.
