Going to the edge....

I have read many times that people tape off the trim, or the edges of panels to avoid getting the polish/wax on them. Also, because the edges usually have a little less paint, they avoid the edge when using a buffer. My question is....how do you get the polish/wax to the edge then? This part gets dirty also and needs polishing/protection. Thanks.

Any areas that I can't reach with the PC, I hand apply the product with a foam applicator. I am not one of those that tapes anything on my vehicles when applying products, but it doesn't seem like there would be very many places that would be difficult to get to. At least not on any of my vehicles.

I'm with Charles on this one. I don't usually do a lot of taping. I just avoid those areas with the polisher and finish up by hand with a foam applicator.
Just remember when your not sure, or when all else fails, do as MR.W would do:bigups

If the correct amount of product is used, less is better, you should be able to polish right up to the edges with no problem. Most of my problems occured when I was using too much product. If the buffer is a rotary, reduce speed as you approach the edge and keep the buffer moving. If it is a PC, you can go as slow as you want to make sure the paint is being polished right up to the edge. I tried taping a couple times, but it is really a pain in the a$$. The other option is to purchase a mini buffer, such as the Wen. These things can get into those tight areas.

something that ive noticed is that it really take a long time to tape up a car. so, whenever i do my parent's cars, i dont bother to tape up the trim, however, when i do other's cars, i like to tape it up, just for some safety
