Going OTC: Review of Two New Vroom Products

Friends,

I thought I might post some brief notes on the Vroom soap and sheepskin mitt:

Mitt: B+, nice and soft, decent construction, not bad for non-boutique mitt, a bit pricey at $10 though. Good quality for OTC mitt.

Car Soap: B, not bad at all, very sudsing but lacking lubricity compared to the usual Autopian fare, nice finish, seems to clean well. Good price at $4 or so for container.

Bottom line: if you run out of product, these are acceptable short-term solutions for those living near a Target store.

I like the packaging and design of these products a lot. I was, however, not impressed with their microfiber which lacked softness at the store.

Agreed on the microfiber. They would do good duty on bumper panels and wheel wells though.

I'm actually going to buck down and try their glass cleaner compared to Stoners IG. Stoners seems to, when you wipe the excess off, streak over areas of the windshield where it seems dirty, then disappear as it dries up. This leads me to believe that it might not be completely cleaning the glass. Or is it just me???

I would rate the wash mitt even higher because I only paid 5.99 for them at the local Target. I saw the other stuff but havent tried any yet. I am going there tonight and might pick up some more stuff.

TeamVegas, I wondered if they rang it up wrong. It seemed high and they could not get it to scan...they probably made a mistake...

i went to target this weekend and was wondering what vroom was. i saw their mf drying towel and it seems like the baja del sol mf jus re-packaged. i use the baja del sol one and have no complaints about it at all, will not scratch a cd even with really firm pressure and holds a lot of water. so naturally, i was interested in the vroom one. went to use the price scanner and no price showed up so i took it with me to the register. i don't know what happened but the only price the cashier can pull up for it was $1.74, so i told her that i ll take 2. tested it on a cd, no scratches. so far so good, haven't used it yet.

I too have used the Baja Sol mitts, and with the last wash I used the Vroom mitt.

I thought the construction and feel of the mitts are the same, but the Vroom comes with a thumb, which (at least for now) annoys me since I am constantly spinning the mitt to get a clean portion as I do a panel. Perhaps I'll get used to it.

As for the price, I paid $5.99 for the Baja Sol mitts, but I got an even better deal on the Vroom--I had my fiance go and get me one! I don't know what she paid, but now I'm going to look at her receipt.

(I even told her, pick it like fruit, get the plushest, softest, best one, and that's what she did! She's a keeper!)

How does the quality of Baja Sol products compare to their Vroom line? The baja sol products were cleared out over the past few weeks to make room for the new products... some look very similar but just look to be repackaged. The MF appears to be different, but not sure if it's for the better or not. Overall the packaging and variety of products left me curious, but not enough to buy any of their products yet.

I found out how much my fiance paid for the wool mitt--$6.99. She said it wasn't in the computer, so she ran back to the shelf and the price was there. $10 seems like a lot, especially for Target.

As for comparing the Baja Sol with the Vroom, all I have worked with in Baja Sol is the wool mitt and a small wheel brush (which is awesome, btw). I will give some other products a try, though. As for MFs, I am a PakShak guy, but maybe for 303 applications and tire/wheel applications...

I've used both Baja Sol and Vroom and they are both quite similar but I give the edge to Vroom for being a little bit softer overall.

I would only use their MF for heavy duty work and stick with PakShak for more precise work.
