Glue to repair Foam PC Pad with crack around velcro?

I just used my new PC for the first time, and one of my two flat white 6.5" pads (purchased from Autopia store, probably manufactured by Lake Country) has started to tear in a uniform ring around the velcro patch on the back. I am using a 5" urethane backing plate also purchased from Autopia, and ran the PC at about 4.5 with 1z PP.

After one use, the crack in the foam is about 1/8" deep, and my hope is that I could put some adhesive (aka glue) in the crack to hold it together. A new pad is a terrible thing to waste...

Any suggestions or experience on what glue to use? Ideally, it needs to be a little flexible, must withstand the washing of the pad after use, and obviously must adhere well to the foam. One thought was to use some 3m Spray Adhesive that I'm sure works for foam (applied with a toothpick into the crack).

Also, any ideas on why the pad would have started to tear so quickly? It was my first use of a PC, but I didn't feel like I was applying much pressure beyond the weight of the machine. I'm wondering whether pressing the pad out while hand washing afterwards with Dawn might have done it; that was when I noticed the crack.
