Gliptone Conditioner question

I just spent 2 hours using Gliptone Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. I followed the instructions on the bottle for both cleaner and conditioner. I massaged the conditioner into the beige leather of my Volvo. After about 5 minutes, the greasy shiny conditioner remained. The instructions read to work into the leather. No need to buff or wipe off as the leather is supposed to absorb it. It's been a few hours now and it's still shiny and greasy. The smell is not leather at all but rather the chemical smell when you open the bottle.

I don't know the previous history of the leather probably never taken car of.

Any suggestions?

How can a coated leather absorb a 'conditioner'. This shows that products like this should really not be used. Any product that is left on the surface will only attract more dirt which is what you want to avoid.
