Gleaming Kleen - Audi RS4

Today I worked on my father in-laws red 93 Chevy Sonoma. This vehicle sits outside all day seven days a week.Unfortunately there is no clear coat over the finsh. This was the most difficult finish I have yet to detail. There was so much dead, oxidized red paint coming off that I kept having to clean my burgandy cutting pad.It got so bad that I finally had to polish over the car three seperate times using my polishing pad as well as my finishing pad with FI.Finishing up with KSG & Blitz. My question is,is there an easier way to achieve the same end result? Also my pads now match the color of the truck and my arms are worn out from all the elbow grease I had to use? Thanks for any help!!!!JB

What kind of polisher did you use? An orbital, dual action, or rotary?

If it was the dual action buffer, ie. Porter Cable 7424, or an orbital, a rotary may cut the time spent on polishing up neglected finishes.

hope this helps

Jason

Jason,I used a Porter Cable 7424.I do not have a rotary and have no experience with one!!!!I quess dead paint would be better than burnt paint. Thanks for your input!!!JB

with experience and practice, a rotary can be very usefull. I plan(ed) on getting one, but now I have my mind on other things..like whey protein powders. These things can be so gosh darn expensive. Just paint $40 for a box of 12 packets that will last me 4 weeks. Using it 3 times a week, box says use twice a day!!!!!!! Thats $40 a week!!! Well if I was in the real world I can porbably afford it.

Oh well, a teen can only dream...of a rotary that is for a present... (ok, ok, please don't comment on this)

Anyway, sorry for going off on a tangent,

Jason

PS I expect you got great results and if so it is great to hear that. I love it after an 8 hour session with a neglected finish and the owner is like wow! really hits the spot.

If you're worried about using a rotary then maybe consider taking it to a pro. Or you could buy one and practice on some vehicles before you use it on yours.

Jason, have you ever tried the Whey Protein that comes in large 32 oz or so cans. You can find many of them for under $20 or so. They tend to last a month easily. Even if you use double the recommended amount, its still only $40 a month. I'm sure the one you bought is excellent, but why the stiff price? How much better is it than other ones. Thanks.

is right on with the practice. Or if your scared of the burns or popped of moldings take it to a good pro.

Sorry for being off topic with the protein and all, but its Met-Rx APM 60 Advanced Matrix Protein

heres a picture and description
apm60.jpg

60 Grams METAMYOSYN - PRO 6.0
Advanced Multi-Substrate Protein

7 grams of Carbs per serving
Strawberry and Vanilla - 2.5 grams of fat per serving
Chocolate 3.5 grams of fat per serving

Scientifically Advanced Support Components:
MKP — Metabolism Accelerating Macro Mineral Complex Engineered ratios of Magnesium, Calcium, Phosphorus and Potassium assist in increasing caloric expenditure and VO2 utilization, thereby increasing metabolic rate and enhancing thermogenesis, the body's own fat burning process.

TNA — Tri-Neuro Amino Matrix The amino acids L-Tyrosine and DL-Phenylalanine acting together are essential active substrates in the production of epinephrine and norepinephrine, essential neurotransmitter involved in metabolic function and thermogenesis. Taurine is an essential element in the digestion of fat and is recognized as a primary building block of all amino acids which are the building blocks of muscle.

ARS — Advanced Recovery System A synergistically formulated matrix of micronutrients engineered to facilitate muscle function, recovery, repair and growth as well as buffer the muscles from the negative effects of lactic acid build-up while slowing the onset of dOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).

PROULIN — Protein Glycogen Support System Specific ingredients formulated in sequence to assist in maximizing protein uptake and utilization by supporting blood glucose and insulin levels important for peak performance.

Three Great Tasting Flavors
Double Shot Chocolate - Just Vanilla - Strawberry Surge

I got the vanilla by the way. But next month I will go back to GNC and get one of those cards (I did not have enough time, get in look for 3 minutes, buy get out sorta deal) Any recommendations of brands? I am looking at ISOPURE but bought Met-Rx.

Thanks for the info Don,
Jason

Ps Must be those darn ready to use convenient packaging that costs so much, hey it is only 2.3 pounds total weight. 3.1 oz. a package?

Anyhow SORRY for being Off Topic. I just want to get stronger.

Helps out with detailing big cars(lifting them up).

Hey Michael, whey protein is very relevant to car care. Some of these tend to give you uhhhhhh well some extra gaseous fiber that needs to be expelled. Might want to be careful with certain leather seats. Hehe! Laters.

Don, extra gas? I am way over my head with these Protein things. I might choose to keep it all natural, eating a lot of food. In which I am doing right now, 4 big meals, and snacks inbetween.

You're absolutely right Jason, its those convenient packs that are increasing the price a bit. But Metrx is some good stuff. Now lets get back to car care. Laters.

back to car care.

I will ahve to attend a school to learn how to use a rotary. The PC just doesn't cut it with certain cars I work with. Trying to turn hay into gold. The trip inbetween is sure gut busting but the rotary has got to help out someway.

Now its just finding a school/clinic.

Here is a very neglected 9 year old Audi RS4

Vehicle had its usual wet stages - foam, wash, clay etc etc

Working my way up trying different combos I settled on using Menz 302 on a cutting pad on the side which had been completely resprayed in the past, most of the original paint was corrected with a wool pad (LCPFW) where there was significant paint levels as the defects were deep and the paint was rock hard. Have done many Audi's and the paint on this was by far the hardest I have ever done
