Glass Repair?

Driving into work this morning, a HUGE rock came up and hit my windshield, leaving a slightly pitted spot where the impact occurred. I just had the windshield replaced about a month-and-a-half ago, too :mad:



Anyone have recommendations or comments on using a glass repair service for this?



The only positive I can come up with is that it didn't hit the paint...
 
I had a similar situation happen about a month ago. At first it looked worse than it really was. I used some fine cut cleaner and a 3M polish pad to gently scrub away most of the residue left by the stone. Now all that is visible is a pin-head size pit in the glass that is hardly noticable.



I noticed that you said a HUGE rock hit your windshield, however you may want to try cleaning up the area where it hit the glass. Then see what it looks like after some polishing. Since you just relaced the windshield, it may be better to just leave it as it is.
 
Yeah, I actually did that and it was much less noticeable than I previously thought. I can still feel the pit and see a couple of small spots where it hit, but I had to look for a few seconds before seeing it.
