No.

along with a single bucket?

Very rarely.

along with a two bucket set up?

Yes.

or on;y for a presoak?

Nah, for me the presoak is the *least* of the foamgun's contributions.

I oughta repost my (current) foamgun-centric wash routine some time...For me, it's all about providing constant lubrication and flushing at the point of wash media/paint contact. "Dislodge and flush".

Oh, and Welcome to Autopia!

thanks for the input and the welcome!

i have been reading this site for a while=finally registered/posted and got a ton of detailing products on the way from eshine.ca!!!

The filmour gun is great- just make sure u buy the one that has the adjustable ratio lever.

When I use the gun, i dont use any buckets. I rinse off the car really well with my hose first. Then I clean the wheels and tres with cleaner & hose and rinse. THen I use the gun to foam the whole car. I let it dwell for about a minute. Then I wash 1 section at a time, after cleaning one panel I rinse my mitt/sponge with the gilmour gun. Always make sure to keep ur wash extra clean- u dont want to scrub dirt on ur car.

After Im done with the top portion of the car- hood, roof, trunk and upper panels, I rinse the car just with the hose. Then I refoam the bottom sections of the car including the wheel wells. THen I wash with sponge/mitt and rinse with the gun after each section.

Then i rinse the bottom of the car with my hose. Finally, I take the nozzle off the hose and use the water to hose off the beads.

Then I use the leaf blower to dry.

Good luck.

I generally just use the foam gun after I compound/polish and before I go to my LSP. The foam getting into all the nooks and crannies does a much better job removing any dust hiding in those areas than just a standard rinse or even a full bucket wash.

While the foam gun does work well for washing I simply prefer going out in the driveway with a bucket and sponge. I enjoy washing that way so that's how I do it.

thanks for the feedback,

hopefully more gilmour users will post up their methods as well. I can't to get all my detailing supplies! My fx35 will be looking great soon
