GG 6" DA Polisher... 10' or 25' cord = power difference?

Just returned my PCXP for a GG 6" DA Polisher based on the great reviews based on this forum (and the fact that I wasn't too impressed by the PCXP). So anyway, onto my question... Is it really going to affect the performance of the polisher by upgrading to the lower GA 25' cord? I'm already accustomed to using an extension cord whenever I use any power tools, and I'm almost certain that the effects are negligible but figured someone on here must've tried it.

Also, while polishing with my PCXP and the handle (on 4.5-5 speed) it had pretty excessive vibration, to the point that my hand was sore the next day. I figured it was because I haven't used a 'real' DA polisher before coupled with the fact that I'm not a huge dude either, but trying to better control the machine, it shook my whole left arm up to the shoulder. Just want to know if I should expect the same amount of vibration transfer on the Griot's model as I did on my PCXP or if I just need to eat a few more cheeseburgers (or if I'm supposed to just control the machine and not try and absorb the vibrations). Thanks in advance.

I have the 25' version, no issues with power at all. I do think the 25' cord gets twisted too much during polishing. I think I would go with the 10' cord next time just for that reason. Easier to unplug the 10' and untwist if needed. JMO.

I'm really not sure what impact the length of the cord will have, that all depends on what sort of extension cord you have been using, but if its a proper amperage cord, I doubt you will notice anything. IMO, unless the cord gets noticeably warm, there is no issue.

As to the vibration issue, I think you are holding on for dear life. I hold my PC or GG6 just enough to keep it where I want it. On flat surfaces this means minimal force. I think you might be holding on way too hard.

I've not noticed any issues from the longer cord, and even though I have many outlets and extension cords, I'm glad mine has the longer one.

As for the vibration, the Griot's isn't all that bad as RO/DA polishers go. I found that removing the bale handle (and holding the machine's housing instead) helps a lot too. But some people are just more sensitive to vibration than others (I'm pretty sensitive to it myself) and it has nothing to do with size, body composition, or anything else like that.

I'll agree that the 25' version I have does get twisted up A LOT ... but it's worth it not to have to use an extension cord the majority of the time. Vibration wise, the PC was louder and vibrated more to me, the Griot's vibrates a lot also, but in a more powerful way, and not as loud, at least to me it seems like a more controlled vibration while the PC seemed like something was out of wack, but it never broke so I just went with it

As far as power issues are concerned, I read on either amazon or GG's website that the 25' cord was a lower GA cord for 'more power', but I was doubting the fact that it would actually produce more torque because of a couple GA lower in power cord size...

This makes perfect sense, I would try to death-grasp it at times and it didn't feel normal at all. I wasn't sure if by giving up on the grip of life was the right way to do it or not haha. I'll try it with and without the handle on Friday when my Griot's model comes in :woot:, I wasn't much of a fan of the way the handle felt on the PCXP anyway, would've probably had better control just holding onto the machine casing instead of that hard plastic handle.

I have the 25' cord and never have it twist..

Wow, lucky you! OR...was it something a bit smarter than luck?!? Wonder if I somehow messed mine up coiling it up for storage or something  I mean, mine is a bit of a twisted mess despite my having taken all the obvious measures.

Guess we might oughta suggest that people take a bit of care as to how they treat the longer cord.

Have you tried wrapping it up like electricians wind up their power and extension cords? Tangle-free storage and just pull it apart to unravel it. It looks a bit like a chain: How to Wrap an Electrical Cord Like a Pro | eHow.com

I just throw it into my container when done no cord wrapping.... Seriously though I wrap the cord the way my brother-in-law showed me they do on the contruction site and have not had a problem.
