I've got my shelves almost where I want them but I'm really not going to pump too much more money into them until I get my own place. Once I get my house I'm gonna go balls-out on the garage. :woohoo:



This morning FedEx dropped off my order from Detailed Image and I jumped on it like a little kid on Christmas. A quick refresh of everything and I shot these photos.



Top Shelf; reserved for the bulk of everything. From left to right are gallon jugs of Car Wash, APC, Speed Shine, Wheel Cleaner, Undercarriage Dressing, and Interior Cleaner.

Second Shelf: Microfiber wash pads for paint, wheel mitts, MF Waffle Weave drying towels, blue MF towels for final dusting, and wax applicator pads.

This shelf is still a work in progress and it contains all the necessities.

The full set-up...the very bottom level is a staging ground at the moment. As soon as I get the Makita we'll be going through a full redesign of this set-up. The hamper is for my dirty microfiber towels and you can see the vacuum at left on the wall. The eagle-eyed will notice the bottle of Nu-Finish polish from my young and dumb days.

Just a little decor...the traffic light is real, it does work, and was purchased legally. The speed limit sign was found and um...adopted.

Looks like a good start!!! Couple things:



1. Do you find that the Griot's spouts tend to leak a little when you keep the gallon jugs like you have them? I have ended up standing them up when I am not using them. The spouts are great for pouring though!!



2. The wood shelving you have is exactely what I have. There will be a few of those bottles that will somehoe leave a ring around the bottom of them. Eventually they will ruin the particle boards. I ended up getting some self adhesive rolls of that fame wood countertop stuff that they use in kitchens and it works great. Everything wipes right off and I don't have to worry about replacing the particleboard.

I was going to make the same comment about the particle board shelves and expand on it a bit.



Don't you find that you get splinters in your MF towels? Even if you haven't seen any, doesn't it keep you up at night thinking about it?



The adhesive paper is a good idea. They also make a different type of shelf paper, I don't know what it's called. It's thick, made of foam, and waffly. That might be better since it will keep stuff off of the particle board, but is easily removed when you want to clean the shelves or replace the lining.
 
I wanted to ask if you ever had given though to grit getting into your wash mits or MF's? I purchased 2each 3 drawer plastic drawers from Target for 8.99 each unit to srore the MF and wash mits in a dust free zone.



Everything else look nice and organized and p-touched to perfection.

As for the Griot's tap spouts...I've found if you can remove most or all (the latter is nearly impossible) of the foil around the ring of the neck, you get a superior seal. Once the spout is seated DO NOT remove it. So far, no leaks. :woot2:



About that damn particle board yes I have noticed if it gets wet the liquid never comes up. I had considered painting the shelves but I really didn't feel like dealing with that. I'll look into the material you've suggested although when I get my house I'm going to get some stainless steel cabinets and that way everything will be enclosed.



The traffic light was actually made by 3M and I bought it from the City of Portland in 2003 for $25. That line of signals has since been discontinued and it is pretty unique so I'm hoping I have a future collectible on my hands. :spot Damn thing weighs a ton though...about 70 pounds with the stand so it really doesn't move around much. If I put it outside it's only for a while and I never let it out of my sight.
