Getting rid of Dried Wax?

A month ago I did Mothers 3-Step on my car. Car's been washed 4 times since and been through plenty of rain too, but I still have dried wax residue in every scratch and chip. Makes them stand out worse then before it was waxed.
Is it the product or did I apply too much or something? How the heck do I get rid of this stuff. The car looks great otherwise.
How can I avoid this problem in the future when buying other products?

I use a toothpick in all the cracks.

For wax stuck in the chips....I'm really not sure. Maybe a q-tip and 50/50 IPA/water?
 
I had the same problem with a 98 Explorer I did a few weeks ago, had wax residue in all the cracks and all along the pinstriping. I thought I had removed it all, but when I dried the car after washing a lot reappeared. Any suggestions?
 
Most waxes seem to dry white. There are a few that claim not to. You'd have to look at the label to see.

I've heard that sealants don't leave white residue, but I'm not sure if all sealants don't.

(I hate it when I see a car I did a week, month, year ago and there's some wax residue that I didn't see before now glaring at me. Why does that glob last a year or more but where you want it to last dies within a month? :( )
 
things that were recommended to me on another board and I have tried. quik detailer with q-tips or better yet makeup tips (theyre q-tip on one end and pointed like a new crayola on the other at cvs) or an old soft toothbrush or soft bristle brush for the crevices or around emblems. for non cracks try reapply wax and wiping off again right away before it dries. I tried toothpick but it's too small.
