Getting ready for a show!

Well, so far I've had a little experience with some good products and I think I've done quit well. I haven't used the PC much but I'm pretty comfortable using it now and want to try new things. My dad is having a car show the 22nd. and I have to do his car Thurday morning. Here is a pic of his car

First off I have the products he likes for the trim, tire dressing, and interior dressing. He likes VRT and I do to so that is one product atleast out of the way. I need something to clean, protect his rims and I was thinking about cleaning them with AIO and protecting them with either UPP, EX-P or PB's Wheel Sealant. Not sure so I need some thoughts on that. For the glass I was going to clean it with some Stoners IG, and put a coat of EX-P or UPP on it for him. Now, the main part of this project of mine, which I'm real excited about giving him the best detail I can give him. He has always done it himself before a show and I know it can look better. First I don't need to clay it, I've already done that, second the swirl marks and scratches he has is at a minimun level. Meaning, not many. I can get them out with SSR2.5 and a LC Orange Pad I'm sure. This time I will use the suggestions from you guys on taking my time, spreading the product out on a slower level and giving it time to break down and then kick it up to 6. Same for the SSR1. Got those covered. Next would be a polish, glaze, sealant, and wax. This is what I was thinking

After the SSR2.5/SSR1 steps
AIO, PwC, or ProPolish with a polishing pad on 5-6 (if you would recommend something else, and maybe have a pic of the outcome of it on white that would be great.)
Then I was thinking about putting VM on with a polishing pad on 4-5
EX-P ( I am doing the car the 21st. and he is leaving for the show the 22nd. so no 2-3 coats of ex-p
Then top it with natty's or p21s. he already has the p21s and I thought I would purchase nattys and do half a hood after the vm with nattys and the other half with p21s and see which he likes better. I will give him the nattys to take if he likes the nattys better, and if he likes the p21s, he can bring his own to do.

I was thinking about ording some PB's S&W and S&G for him to do after he gets there. Does the S&G act as a quick detail spray or should I be thinking about ordering the QD+ as well? I have some UGE but not sure how it would look with this combo or whatever combo I decide to go with. I have about 150-200 to spend on products and would appreciate some feedback, comments, suggestions and whatever else you guys can offer me before I order everything. Which I need to order in the morning. Thanks guys

Well, been doing a little searching and getting some opinions on things I think I am going with the following

SSR2.5
SSR1
PwC
EX-P
Natty's
S&W
S&G
Poorboys Wheel Sealant

Will post the pics of the car Thursday and the procedure for the detail. I think I will be happy with the outcome. If anyone has any pics of white cars with this combo please post them. Would love to see them.

I agree with Jeff. If the car only has minor swirls I would not go that agressive to start. Try using the SSR1 with a polishing pad first before moving up to SSR2.5 (remember least agressive combo first)

The rest of your procedure looks fine, and defiantly give your dad some S&W and S&G to take with him to the show.

Good luck to you and your dad,
"J"

If you're going to prep a car for show two days prior, I would just use multiple layers of a carnauba. In my experience Natty's looks great if you put about 4-5 layers on and then you S&G using the shine amplifying method (S&G normally and then S&G really heavy and buff vigourously with a plush MF). You can put the Natty's coats on right after each other, it might cause a slight drop in durability but it's a show car.

One thing I've heard of that you might want to try at some point, some people put a layer of pure sealant over their carnauba when they get to the show. It doesn't bond to the finish, but it produces a very clear shine that really sets off your car. It goes without saying that you would do that after you were done S&G-ing. Something to think about.

No need to use ssr2.5, if u have minor swilrs. I would use either ssr1 or maybe Meg #80. That white color white, I think its a single stage color..correct me, if I'm wrong.

Jeff, klnyc, J and tubafreak. Thanks For the suggestions. I'm not sure that is needs 2.5 but I'm going to bring it with me and look at the car under some lights to see for sure. It might just need ssr1 like you guys suggest because the car is mostly garage kept. That's good I can put the Natty's on right after each other I was concerned and trying to find a different route to take besides the ex-p because of the curring time. I will try the 4-5 layers of nattys and then the S&G method you mentioned. Sence I am doing this on Thursday and he is leaving for the show the next day and it is the whole weekend if I added the EX-P ontop of the Natty's will it hold up 3 days for a show? When he gets there on Friday the car will be put in the show and left there until the end so no driving after that point? I wish I was going with him but not this one. Just want to make sure the car stays looking good for him and Jay I will deffinately give him some S&W and S&G to take with him. Thanks for the quick responses guys and Tuba after I do the S&G method, then the coats of Natty's I will put a coat of EX-P on half of the hood to see what it looks like. I'm sure I will like it. I just want to make sure this route will hold up for the trip from Nashville to Knoxville and then 3 days in the show, no driving after that of course until the end.

If the car isn't driven the EX-P won't wear away. Although it won't "bond" to the finish it will "stick" there, it should act like a glaze topper, it just sits on top of the wax and shines like crazy and the next time you wash it slides off.

Just a quickie. I placed an order for some PwC and Wheel Sealant. I talked to Dwayne about it and he said it sounds like a good idea but not sure if I will get the results I want because I haven't read on here someone doing this way. Using the PwC with a MF app. on the wheels, they are chrome, let haze remove and use wheel sealant. Would PwC work good for this purpose or should I have placed an order for something else that would yield better results?

Hey thanks guys for all the information. I really appreciate it. I try to do as much searching as possible to find my answers but sometimes it's just easier, quicker, and I get to hear your opinions on the specific subject right away. Really helpful guys. I wont forget to post the pics. either. Take care.
