Getting PC, what polymer for SFP/AIO/??/S100??

Just sent off for my PC 7424, should be getting it by the end of this week. Very happy to finally order it, and bought plenty of pads and stuff to go with it. Got a yellow pad, 2 white pads, finishing pad, along with some Big Blues and AIO.

Need some advice though from some of you guys as usual, lol. I have used s100 in the past as my main topper. With my black car, I am concerned with the heat down here that s100 doesn't last very long. So I believe I want to put a polymer under the s100.

Now I haven't tried just AIO/s100 yet(just ordered AIO), and I do know the AIO does give some protection and durability. What about this option of just AIO/s100??

I do have #20 and NXT in my collection. I am looking to add some depth, durability to heat, protection against UV, and maybe a little wetness to the s100. I used the #20 as my winter protection, but I really don't think it would give me the looks I would be looking for in the summer months. Could be wrong of course.

I have read the good and bad of NXT, and I would be using my PC and polishing pads with it as that seems to be the best way of application. What poly would be better for what I am looking for?? Don't really want to use SG or Zaino, what about UPP, Final Polish, and such, would they add what I am looking for in the summer better than the NXT or #20??

Also, is using SFP/AIO/??/s100 too many layers, can one be left out and can all 4 be layered successfully?? And how often do you guys hit your car with a poly during the summer, instead of just hitting it with something like s100?? I am worried about having to put the whole AIO/??/s100 on everytime I wax.

Lot of questions, need answers, lol.

The AIO will remove whatever the SFP leaves behind, so that's more like two separate steps than two "layers".

*I* would put a layer or two of SG over the AIO; I'm just NOT a fan of AIO/wax withOUT the SG. If you want to try something like that, I'd use Autglym's SRP instead of the AIO. AIO leavs VERY minimal protection at best. But a little SG will REALLY last, then you'll only have to redo the wax topper from time to time.

But otherwise, I'd just use the #20 or the NXT and then top with the wax. Maybe get something that lasts longer than the P21S (like Meg's #16- very similar look).

Keep in mind the only reason to top something like AIO with a wax is to change the looks. If you want the product to hold up to heat, skip the wax altogether and go with the AIO or #20 straight.

Nice thing about wax is you can slap on a coat any ol time. Once or twice a year strip the whole thing down, repolish the paint, and redo the sealant and wax.

Interesting, I guess the whole point of this all was to find a polymer to protect my car from heat and the sun, cause I am scared that s100 alone will not do the job. I hear good and bad things about NXT, but #20 is a good ol' standby.

I do like to slap on a coat of s100 anytime, problem is, don't really know how long the poly has lasted underneath it, so I don't really know how often to redo the poly. With the s100 on top of it, seems like the poly should last quite a while.

Also seems like I might not get everything I am looking for out of the poly layer other than protection. Would like some depth, though. Still like that wet look, but I don't want to spend the cash on Souveran just yet.

It is interesting that AIO says that it offers protection, but most on this board say it doesn't. Any reason for this difference in opinion??

As you can se by my signature, SG IMO is the way to go.

As for whether the polymer is standing up or not, I have not had any issues with leaving a 3 layer base of SG and reapplying S100 every 2 or 3 weeks after a wash. Think of the S100 as a "sacrificial layer" that *should* leave the base intact. I plan on starting from scratch with the whole process every 6 months, which is due real soon and I have encountered no issues so far....

Well, I think I would be OK with the #20, just wanted a little more depth and pop. Certainly don't mind it, I love the proven durability of it.

Haven't really wanted to try SG cause I have heard nightmares about getting it off and not being easy to work with. Don't know this for myself though.

The mystery of NXT also makes me wonder about it. Don't know if I should go with my winter standby(#20) for the summer.

I do know that I applied my #20 and s100 layer for the winter, and my car still beads just a little. Of course, don't know if that is cause my car is new or cause of the #20. Hoping its the wax, lol.
