Ok, i own a crown vic that was owned by a county before (04) that used (gasp) a carwash every day to wash the car.

It has some bad swirlmarks and i am thinking about getting a 7424 and product to correct.

I dont know what products to get to correct the issues, nor do i really know how to use this and i want to learn.

What compounds should i get?

What polishes?

What Swirl / scratch removers?

What pads?

What size pads?

AG has a sale on some 5.5 LC pads right now. For $14.99 you can get either 6 orange pads or 4 pads (2 white, 2 orange).

cvpiftw- I'm a fan of those P71s, and IMO the '04s are one of the best model years :xyxthumbs

If I were buying a polisher these days, I'd sure look into the UDM and the Flex before just automatically buying the PC. I've always found the PC to be only *barely* potent enough, and it needs 4" pads to be that good.

I can't really recommend pads/etc. as I'm a bit behind the times, but for polishes, I'd sure look into the 1Z line. It's my #1 recommendation for people just getting started with serious detailing, and I still use their stuff myself on a few of our vehicles (even though I have a lot of other brands on the shelf).

If that were *my* P71 I'd use 1Z polishes topped with Collinite brand wax. In fact, that's exactly what I'll do next time I have one!
