Gelcoat restoration 2001 Eliminator Eagle 23XP

Gelcoat restoration begins on my 2001 Eliminator 23 Eagle XP. I had this boat custom built for me in October 2000, a very cool experience. From the hull graphics which I designed, (1 off) to the SS hardware, and my choice of motor and drive to propel this water rod. I have used it extensively for the last almost 10 years and 460 hrs of use, enjoying wonderful vacations with friends and family out in Lake Havasu City AZ.

I wash my boat literally after every outing and she has never seen salt. Since the rear transom is a dark purple fade, the water spots very quickly on the back end. So my method has always been to use Meguiar's #47 "Hard Water Spot Remover" to knock down the calcium and lime spots from the lake. I even did very early testing on my boat with # 47 for Meguiar's when they were developing this product back in early 2001. The boat is kept in my garage which can get to be at least 125 degrees + in the summer, which is very hot.

I keep two 5 gallon rubbermaid crates with water under my trailer, so the heat absorbs this moisture in the crates instead of drying up the boats vinyl interior and components.

So while I was getting her ready for spring break coming up, I new that it was finally time to do some much needed gelcoat restoration on the upper rear areas of the transom. So the testing process begins and here are my results......

Sorry about that mods, my apologies...left in a hurry posted pictures with my url...correction made...

Really turned out well. :)

Might want to remove the link in your pictures before the mods remove the pictures completely...

Not to drag this on or be "that guy" but all of his threads have URLs in them. That is completely unfair to the rest who actually read and follow the rules..

The boat looks great man. I hate gelcoat. I did a 30 foot once, I told myself never again will I do aboat. My hats off to you. Great work David!!

Great job on the boat. That thing looks beautiful. It's funny because I am actually working on a 24ft Maxum tomorrow. This thing is badly oxidized but I did a few test spots with wool/1Z IP and it took care of it with ease.
