G'Day from the Great White North

OK, it isn't so white now!

Been reading through far too many threads to count and have found this site very informative and the people here seem to have a lot to offer, so I joined.

I'm seriously considering starting a mobile detailing business part-time. I'm a full time 'HoseMonkey' and have a lot of extra time off which I want to use more constructively.

I love cars, having restored an '80 Monza Spyder and working on a '79 Road Hawk and have 3 others that get constant attention. I'd like to take that passion and see if I can make a go of it. I've already dabbled in it with every car I've ever owned and also sold, detailing them to make the best impression and each time I get great reviews from the buyers on how well I clean and take care of my vehicles.

I don't want to jump in blind so I'm doing all the research I can on the business, getting educated and want to perfect some techniques on my own vehicles before having others pay me for my services. The forum is yet another step.

Anyways, the initial thought was to run a small mobile unit out of my Spyder (it's bigger inside than you think), which would be instant recognition and the perfect marketing tool around town, at the car shows and cruise nights I attend regularly since it too is already well detailed.

Thought joining a forum would increase my awareness of what to expect, what to prepare for and how to be successful with this, and maybe make a bit of coin on the side as well.

Cheers!
Bryan

Hey Bryan, welcome. You're not the first from you part of the continent to come here, some have even stayed. In fact we can't get rid of CalgaryDetail, try as we might. :D Seriously though, enjoy the board it's a great group of people. There are a lot of great detailers, businessmen and women and enthusiasts with the answer to just about any question you may have. Don't ask any questions of a guy by the name of Troy, he'll steer you wrong. :roflActually it's his world here. Have fun.

Thanks for the welcome guys (reminds me of the atmosphere in the H-Body forum I'm a part of). I've got tonnes of questions and stuff, but I'll keep reading up on old posts so I'm not being too redundant. After reading what I already have, I realize I've got lots to learn and a bit of practice on my own vehicles to do first. Cheers!
