Gas smell in interior......

I know that this has had to come up before in detailing.

A car had gas spilled inside and the owner wants you to get the smell out. What works??

I actually am interested in this (no, I didnt put gas in my car!!), but I work with gas/ diesel all day at a refinery and sometimes it gets on your clothes. I figure what works on a car interior, will work on my clothes if I throw it in the wash with the clothes...RIGHT??

Any help would be great!!

I would replace the carpet and padding if it was saturated with gas. I would be interested in the Pro's response to this one.

We send all of our work clothes to the commercial cleaners. Occasional wash at home is fine but the greasy, dirty clothes were just to much for our washers at home. To avoid contamination of regular family laundry I even have a second washer that I only used for work clothes but the results were not the best.

Commercial cleaners have been a Godsend. We used to joke that some of the mechanics clothes would still stand up after they took them off.

I know what you are talking about!!

My clothes never get REALLY saturated with gas/ diesel. I is just that you rub up against the equipment all day...so some days are better than others !!

I to would love the pros response to this one!!
