Gas or Electric Pressure Washers for you mobile guys?

I want a new pressure washer soon. I am tired of lugging my dads 13hp 4500psi washer around, and I want one of my own. I have a contract with a local farmer that has me detailing a bunch of muddy tractors/trucks, so a heavy duty pressure washer is a must. I was starting out looking for an electric one, but the models that are any good (high quality) are so damn expensive. I was considering a gas one, but I dont want to have to keep up with gas cans and to keep buying gas for the damn thing.

What do yall have or prefer? Gas vs. Electric.

Depends a lot on the PSI you think you need. I have a Campbell Hausfeld electric and it works fine for me. I don't need the high PSI a gas gets you. Mine is 1700psi max.

Mostly use it for cleaning my vinyl siding, walks, couple times on the car. Quick and easy just not as powerful as the gas ones plus you need electrical outlet nearby.

Just noticed I was posting in the Pro section.... Sorry... Not a mobil detailer just giving an opinion..... :bawling:

I am actualy trying out a 1500PSI B&D washer from my gf. It has plenty of pressure, but no flow. I think it only flows 1gpm. I want something more like 2-3gpm flow, so more water comes out.

I have a porter cable 2250 psi.It has a 5.5 horsepower gas engine. I've has it for about 5 years now and haven't had any trouble out of it. I think the gallon per minute is2.2 or 2.5.

I bought a 3100 psi Dewalt model from HD. I am more than pleased with the units noise level, usability, and its quick starting; 1st pull everytime w/ choke. It came with a honda commercial motor, and CAT pump. I would recommend this machine to anybody looking for a great machine at a reasonable price. I think it puts out 2-3 gal/min. I too would have preferred an electric, but too much money, and a lot of them seemed to run on 220 power.

I use a 1200psi 2.2gpm Electric.

Basically has a big electric motor with a Comet pump bolted to it, on a metal frame.

Beefy, and does the job.. Should last 10 years or more.

$600, best money spent!

Electric is the way to go, since 95% of the time you use the clients electricity. Everyone appreciates quiet! And the other 5% of the time, the generator will supply the power.

Which brand do you guys recommend for me to go with? I've gone through two from Costco which were Karschers and they crapped out. Thank goodness I could return them, but what would you guys recommend? Something compact yet powerful enough.

Camspray makes a nice unit that TOL sells. The only problem is it draws 18-19 amps, which can be a problem on a 15 amp circuit. It is 1450PSI, but just as important it flows 2.2 GPM which is much higher than most consumer units.

I have a pressure washer at home is this something i should be using to wash my car (range rover) i always thought that it was too strong for it. I heard they ruin the door and windows seals. I would love to hear you input.

Very effective on floormats, tires, wheels, wheelwells, front fascia/bumper, engine (from a distance), and doorjambs. Not for 'carwashing'.

Good Luck.

I just picked up a DP3100 from Home Depot and so far, I've been very please with it. Mine was a refurbished unit so I need to pick a new nozzle assortment set and a 50' hose.
