Garage Bay Heating Suggestions

Hey Guys, through the winter months I'll be working out of a single garage bay that is roughly 10' wide and about 20' deep. I need a heat source that will heat up the bay quickly. This way, when I arrive to work I'm not waiting hours to get the area up to the desired temp. I'd like to be able to heat it to at least 60* or around there so I don't think I need anything too powerful. I would like to avoid an electric heater. I've also heard some say that certain heaters' exhausts can create problems for detailing products.

So, what type of heater do you guys suggest?

Yep. It's actually a detached 4-car garage and the bay I'm renting is walled off so it is separate from the other 3 bays and it has its own garage door.

Is the garage wired or are you using your own generator for electricity. An electric heater would be the cleanest and safest in my opinion. Although they suck up alot of juice.

I think the problem you will have with a gas style heater is proper ventalation. Especially in one bay.

Yea if it's a rental and you're limited on what you can do I would say your only real choice is electric. Kerosene in a small space like that is not a good idea. Unless you want to work with the door wide open. Same with any other gases. If you could punch a hole through the wall for a chimmeny I'd say go with a high effiecency wood burner. But without that option electrcity is really your only viable option.

i just bought this. I'll give it a go this weekend. The claim from existing owners is that the kerosens smell is not powerful. My intention is to heat up the garage before I go in, then shut it down and work on the car. I could turn it back on temporarily if it got cold.

Looks good for a few hours on a Saturday, I dont know if it will prove to be useful for full-time usage.

Check Ebay there are a lot of 99.9% efficient, vent free propane heaters with oxygen sensors. The prices has gone up in the last couple months, but still cheap. I am running one right now, works well.

Go propane. All you need to do is keep the door open a few inches. I'd go with the two burner deal that fits on top of a 20 lb tank.

I have used these inside of a house years ago. Be sure and use the best grade of kero you can get. Clean burning and put out a lot of heat. Just sold an old one last year to a buddy for his garage.
