Gadgets from the past...

I didn't quite know where to put this, or what to label it so maybe a whole new thread might be started ( ;) ;) troy) with all the gadgets from the early days of detailing.... I'll start with this one....

"Use Car's Exhaust to Clean Cushions"

"Using the exhaust gas of the automobile to clean the upholstery is the accomplishment of a recently invented device..."

Good grief...I would like to see that put on the market today, it will be right with the lead toys and those aqua dots...

I'm wondering how there would be enough suction created from the exhaust to run the vacuum. Maybe there was more pressure out of the exhaust on older cars? Maybe I have too high of expectations of a vacuum? (I seem to recall one of my older vacuums (actually had "runners" instead of wheels ) was not quite as powerful as the one I have now.
It seems that the exhaust wouldn't enter the car (unless it blew back in), but man, I wouldn't want to be the one to "find out" that some had made its way through the tube into the car.

How's this... 1930's duster. Look familiar?
