G110 Pads and Backing Plates

Hey all, so I'm thinking about getting a G110 before one day moving onto a Makita DA.

Anyhow, I have a question about the backing plate. Is it the same type as the generic ones they have on AG? By that I'm curious whether the pads are male for the G110

Also, I've read that the counterweight is not changeable, will I be able to use 5.5" or smaller pads with it?

Are the backing plates the same ones for the other PC/UDMs? I was slightly apprehensive cuz I saw one for some other DA that had a female hole.

Those CAN be used on the DA, with the 5/8" adapter. I use a 3" and 3.5" backing plate for my 3.5" PFW and 4" LC Foam pads with that adapter and the yellow "flexible" backing plates for the rotary. I got my backing plates and adapter from ADS.

I only use the smaller pads for heavier corrections and polishing small uneven parts on cars. I've had really good results with the Megs SoftBuff 2.0 pads on larger panels and on Speed 6. The pads are large enough that it cuts my polishing time in half on large panels that require light correction (minor swirls/scratches) vs using 4" pads. I can't comment on the 5.5" pads as I have yet to use them on my G110.

And, YES, 5.5" pads should fit the backing plate that comes with the G110.

As far as I know, everything is compatible with the PC etc.

Good luck with the G110! I have one and its a wonderful machine.

Alright, good enough for me, it would be nice to have confirmation for 4" pads, but good enough.

Can anyone tell me if they recommend Meg's own pads over the 5.5" LC pads? The LC pads are significantly cheaper, and since they're smaller, should give me more cut.

Either way, thanks for all the help so far!

If you're applying wax or something, the larger pads will make it faster. But for correction a smaller pad will be better.

My kit came with the Meg's pads, they're not bad. Pricey on their own though.
