FX-100 Qs

To those who have used both FX100 and OCW, can you tell me the differences? I.e. is one wetter, brighter etc? How's the durability?

Just got some OCW in the mail, and have heard nothing but good things about both products. However, the FX100 just seems to be a better deal $$$ wise for a poor guy like me.

Thanks.

You can buy a gallon of OCW for less than $40, that makes it cheaper per ounce than the FK product, if you have that money to put out up front...and if you want to buy enough LSP to do your car 100+ times.

Of the two, OCW is easier to use – spray and wipe. FX-100 requires a minute or so to haze, then wipe. Neither product will streak nor stain trim and molding. Me personally, I think FX-100 leaves a better-looking finish . . . much like a hard candy shine. Gloss and depth is quite nice as well. OCW is available by the gallon, FX-100 is not. Regarding durability – no comment . . . it’s subjective.

Good luck :bigups

FX-100 looks deeper to me. Both are wet but different, FX-100 is more liquid wet while OCW looks more sealant-ish with a harder shine. I like both, it's really preference.

So since this is a spray GLAZE, will it hide imperfections? For example, on my car I just added my second layer of Acrylic Jett. I have some Acrylic Glanz and Acrylic Spritz I need to use up before I top it with a carnauba. While I'm using only AJ, could I use this after washing to hide minor marring? Obviously, when I go ahead and top with a carnauba, I can still use it, but the carnauba should help hide some of the blemishes.

Or is it just a spray wax like OCW?

Both really...wax/sealant. Glaze name can be a little misleading. I believe manufacturers (spray forms especially) use the name in terms of yesteryear when show cars would top with glaze right before a show. Not so much how we know think of it with filling properties.

Maybe a QD with extreme sealants would be a good description, except you do haze.

Topping AJ.....that will be an experiment....FX does have cleaning abilities although minimal.

Glad I could add to your confusion!!!

:rofl It's all good. I sent an e-mail to FK so I'll see what they have to say about it. Since it has cleaning agents, I think I'll try to stay away, unless they're equivalent to those in your every day QD...

I use fx-100 and work it in like a qd would. letting it dry didnt work for me. It leaves a super slick finish, slick than ocw, and is has a deeper shine than ocw. I cant comment on which is more durable. I love both but as far as looks fx-100 wins for me.

Got an e-mail back from FK today:

We appreciate your interest in FK1 Products.

"To answer your questions.

1. FX-100 does not contain any cleaners

2. Yes it can be used over a sealant or carnauba

3. Working it into the finish will aid in hiding imperfections. Using a applicator pad to spread and work in will be of bennifit. Allow to dry then remove with a clean microfiber."

Looks like I'll have to give it a try someday.

My order of Pink Wax & FX-100 arrived today. The email from FK1 is just what the doctor ordered! Thanks for the info! :2thumbs:

fx-100 is really not anymore difficult to use, nor do I consider waiting for a haze an issue as it happens

almost instantly. By the time im done with the fenders and hood, its time to remove.

And the haze is not like really thick or anything. Very user friendly.

Cant wait for them to sale it in Gallons.

FX-100 as a SPRAY Glaze SEALANT is PURE GENIUS! ~ Based on the Gloss, Protection and Durability ratings supplied by FK - would FX-100 be better described as a combination of 2180 & 425? http://www.fk1usa.com/products-consumer.htm#2180 ...Banana & Bubble Gum, huh!? * Should FX-100 be used Before or After 425?

FK1 claims an up to 12 months protections from 2180/1000 so fx100 isn't really the same.

FX100 should be used before 425.

QD is always the last step.

Thanks, I've been asking similar type questions cause my FMJ & HGAS is currently moving around our circle of friends - not by choice. :hairpull Last week after a wash, we tried 425, weren't overly impressed - actually felt slicker with Mist 'N Shine from Wizards. Now after trying your FX-100/425 application method after a wash, we're happier :lol still not quite as slippery slick as MenZ

maybe I can use the FK as bait to get my MenZ back for a better comparision.

FK products don't have the immediacy of others. They improve their appearances and feel in the next days. On extremely well maintained, or new finishes this is accomplished in 1-2 days, but on older, neglected surfaces they *may* need a more thorough application (more coats beneficial), and the improvement stage can last up to a month. Very unique characteristics, but it is fascinating to follow.
