Fully dry before claying?

Have searched and read a couple of posts on folks who was and fully dry before claying, then washing and drying again. If I'm going to follow up the clay with a full wash/dry anyway - is there any reason to do a full dry on the front end? Thanks.

Yeah, to avoid waterspots. I either clay while washing (remember to keep wetting down the rest of the vehicle since this might take a while) or I dry completely and then clay. Water spots can be a pain.

I dunno if you'll *have* to rewash after you clay. All depends on how much clay residue you get and a lot of that will be a matter of whether you use the clay and lube properly. But it seems that some clays are more prone to residue than others no matter how you use them...

I dont seem to get as good of results while using water as a lubricant. I Find sprayway glass cleaner or detail spray to work the best. Maybe its just cause these each form a thinner layer between the paint and the clay
