Got a call from a long time friend and VW connoisseur a couple weeks ago regarding his custom 1967 VW Beetle he has been building and getting ready to enter in the world of wheels Boston.

The car had been painted a few weeks ago and it was in need of a full damp sanding and polishing to cut out the orange peel. The paint job was pretty nice but had some areas where dust and orange peel were worse than others.

The car was machine sanded with Mirka Abralon disks in 2000 and 3000 grit using 3in pads and 6in pads. Machines used were pc7424, GG 3in and Rupes Nano ibrid. The majority of polishing was handled with my G21, BOSS microfiber cutting pads and fast correcting cream. I did use Shine Supply Flat Top in some spots with the Rupes Nano ibrid.

I will be following up once the car is back together and ready for a final polishing.

The pics below are just polished with fast correcting cream.

Just some in process shots. I did notice that my head is rather shiny lol!!!

Cool project being done right! I wish all cars had level clear from the painter/factory.

It`s going to look awesome.

Sometimes I do wish that but then I wouldn`t get to work on cool stuff like this lol.

The car should be back together by end of February. Once that happens I will go back and do the final polishing and sealing.

What a special job for you! Envious. Was a gauge used on the colour coat then the clear to give you how thick you have to play with??
