I've been working on my personal ride(black...:aww:). I first used 105 via double sided wool pad for compounding stage. Followed up by lc ccs orange pad using #83, followed by lc ccs white pad using op. I did a iso wipedown between each stage. The finish came out nice, except after I used a finishing pad with#80, I noticed tiny scratches all over the area:cry: The pad I used was just cleaned, so I know it could'nt have had debris in it. My mf towels are all clean to. Somebody please tell me where these scratches are coming from. Maybe Im just to big of a perfectionist, I don't know, but It seems like I'm chasing 1%'s all day long and not getting nowhere. HELP!!:wall

I'd make sure it was really the #80 inducing the scratches. It also seems to me that using both #80 and OP are a bit redundant.

scratches?

If he said scratches instead of swirls or holograms, it just sent chills down my back...

It brings up the horrid topic of crows feet and clear coat failure...

Is that what the scratches look like?

Terminology can be confusing, but important in this situation. I don't see holograms or swirls as, "scratches."

For some reason, and maybe I'm weird, but those things give me the creeps.

Lord no!! The scratches I am referring to are very light (swirls, I guess you could say) I just figured going straight to the #80 after the 105 wouldn't be aggressive enough to eliminate the compounding induced swirls. What you do you mean about the #80 or the op could be the cause? Has it been known to do this?
