FRS Opti-Coated, Saturn Vue paint bomb removal

2013 Scion FRS. The owner wisely declined any dealer prep (although they did dress the tires) so this one was the best condition of the several I have taken care of. It did have some light rotary holograms near the driver's side rear C pillar and some marring on top of both rear fenders. Otherwise it was remarkably swirl free.

ONR wash, Optimum nano skin contamination remover (appears to be a mild version)

Meguiars #105 using Meguiars microfiber cutting discs and my PC 7424 XP on the problem areas

Optimum Hyper Polish using an Optimum microfiber polishing pad and my PC

ONR wash

Optimum Opti-Coat

Armor All on tires/fenderwells

The owner was blown away by the appearance of Opti-Coat, he said it looked like there was water laying on the car. Mentioned more than a couple times how it looked even better than he was expecting. :)

2004 Saturn Vue Redline. The one with the Honda engine, same one that is in the Odyssey and Pilot, but the Vue weighs hundreds of pounds less. Makes a nice sleeper. Unfortunately, the owner ran over a can of spray paint which exploded down the passenger side of the car.

The clear area was actually solid with paint (forgot to take a before shot of it), wanted to hit the worst of it first to make sure I could remove it.

Half 'n half shot:

ONR wash, using Auto Magic purple (aggressive) clay on the splattered paint, Optimum nano skin on the rest of the car

MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) and MF towels to remove the paint (since Meguiars #105 and Optimum Hyper Compound were having little effect)

ONR wash

Meguiars #105 using a Meguiars microfiber cutting disc after rewashing to make sure any trace of MEK left was removed.

Optimum Hyper Polish using an Optimum microfiber polishing pad and my PC on the whole car

Optimum Opti-Seal

Armor All on tires/fenderwells

Nice save on the Vue. Did the MEK melt the paint pretty easy?

I wish. That spray paint was pretty brutal to remove.

Nice work Scott, breaking out the MEK, nasty/potent stuff there.

-Kody-

Any time there is a warning on a can that warns you of breathing the vapors and states if you feel dizzy you'll probably be dead in less than a minute is potent stuff!

Nice work Scott! Vue turned out great! Even polished the bullet holes....lol! Nano Skin the new name of the Eraser pads?

No, I've got a pad and a rubber mat about 1/8th inch thick, testing them both.

is MEK the same as lacquer thinner, great job on both cars Scott.

I believe MEK can be used to strip engine parts.

Fantastic job removing the paint bomb! And to think, you didn't need to get your "blader" on. Someone send this thread to Jeff Suggs.
