I knew when I bought my 87 560SL that the front spoiler needed attention. The paint chips will be mitigated with Dr. Color Chip ? I ordered the large kit.
Aside from the many paint chips on the painted area, the real problem is the black lip on the spoiler itself. There are many chips, cuts and foreign substances of unknown origin that have to be dealt with. The surface of this black lip seems like a kind of rubber or plastic coating. The first step will be to clean/clay the thing.
Is there a specific type of paint that should be used on the black lip of the spoiler? I thought about masking it off and using some of that stuff that?s used on pickup beds as a coating, but I want to keep it as original as possible.
If anyone has had to deal with this on an old Benz, any leads or suggestions are appreciated. I?ve attached a couple of photos for reference.
Thanks.
