From paint to polished?

I am thinking about stripping the paint from my sliver wheels and polishing them out so I don't have to deal with the nicks & scrapes and all of that. Has anyone ever tried it as a DIY job? There isn't any place locally that will do it.

I figure that a combination of sandpaper, stripping wheels and buffing wheels for a drill & dremel, and some rouge should be all it will take.

The wheels aren't too complicated, but I'm just scared because after that first swipe, I'm committed!

Any thoughts, experiences, suggestions?

Here's a pic of the same wheels polished out on someone else's car-pretty large, uncomplicated areas.

Mark...uh...yeah...that'd be your (wife's) car! They just look soooo good! I forgot you were on here! It was the only pic I had of the C7's.

The problem here is that there is no body that will do it! It's not like Cali where shops are all over the place. I'm still debating whether to attempt it myself. I have a feeling it would be like when I took my front door off to repaint it, it wouldn't dry, and I had to sleep on the floor in front of the screen door all night to make sure nobody walked in. :)

Yielar-thanks for the info! I'll check them out.
