FPII over OC?

Im going to be making an online order and was wondering if it would be ok to use Final Polish II over optimum compound? I like the idea of the optimum line for the long work times seeing as to how Im new to this. But people seem to love the finish that FPII leaves. So I figure with this combo Ill get the best of both worlds.

You are not using it "over" Optimum compound, as OC leaves nothing on the finish. The FPII would just further refine the paint till it is LSP ready. In short, yes, it would work.

I have IP, FPII, OC and OP. So far I've used the Menzerna's more than the Optimum polishes, but mostly because those were the ones that I got my hands on first.

I think that the combo of OC and FPII will take care of most of the conditions that you will typically encounter (all but the deeper swirls). I have yet to come across a case where IP or OC and an orange Edge 2000 or orange Propel pad didn't take care of the marring. I don't even have PG or OHC on hand. I do have a yellow Edge 2000 pad, but haven't used it yet. But the vehicles that I work on are well maintained and never really get swirled up that bad.

I really do like FPII though. In fact, FPII with the green Edge 2000 pad takes care of 80+% of the marring that occur on the vehicles that I work on. Haven't used OP as much as FPII, so others may have more input on the finer differences between FPII and OP. To me, they are about the same except that the Optimum polishes cost about half of the Menzerna polishes (Optimum 32 oz sizes are about the same price as Menzerna 16 oz size).

I don't think that you can really go wrong with either line or the combo that you had originally noted. Or you could just get all four and try them out! Haha.
