Four Star UPP

OCDinPDX

Paint Ph.D
I just ordered a bottle and am very stoked to get my hands on it.

I just wanted to see (for those that have used it) what the general consensus is on the quality of this product. I've heard great things about it's slickness and the water beading properties.

Thanks.

I like the product alot. To me the clarity is exceptional. The metalflake on my wife's silver car shimmered like a pond on a bright sunny day. Also it left the surface very slick.
As for durability it stood up to the winter we had. I put on so many layers I would have to go back and do a search of my threads. I think it was in the 10's(if not 20's).
If I remember right the water would sheet off the car surfaces. There wasn't much beading.
Trust me,you made a very good/wise purchase.
Btw thanks for bringing up UPP.The next time I use a sealant I'll break that product out.

That product has always intrigued me, but the price has stopped me from pulling the trigger.

IMO, It was the slickest LSP I have ever used.
You will love it.
Remember, it is a true sealant and you need to have a well prepped finish to apply it to.
It doesn't fill or correct, but it sure does leave a slick shiny finish. Just what it's supposed to do. :)

It is very clear. And it is very, very slick.

At one time, folks complained that it did not last too long, however, I believe it is now ploycharged. That may or may not help in that area.

It is one my personal favorite sealants, but that doesn;t really mean toom uch to anyone bu me.

It's my go to sealant. It was the first one recommended to me years ago and will always be on my shelf.

Thanks for the replies. Based on what I have read here, I made a smart choice.

Two more questions:

1. How long would you recommend letting it harden on the paint?
2. I was thinking about applying it by hand rather than using my random orbital. Which is better?

Whatever it says in the instructions. :)
It used to be 15 minutes to an hour, but it is a new formula and it might not be the same.

All my LSPs are applied by hand. I've used the PC and it wasn't worth the effort for me. The effort being getting out the PC, getting out a pad, putting the PC away, washing the pad and letting it dry so you can put it away. All that messing around took longer than just wiping the stuff on. :)

As Charles said, i too use it by hand. On top of what was stated, I will have to do spots by hand anyway because of the angles and such. It also allows me to be sure that there is proper coverage.

It's really simple. I applied 1 coat of UPP at the beginning of July and it still beads and shines like it was applied yesterday!

I still have a few apps left of UPP and agree with what every one is saying about the finish..only thing that I can add is lay that stuff down thin as possible...what I have found is that it can be hard to get ALL of the residue off...meaning that where it is a bit thicker it dosen't come of as easy..what I do is go over the car with some QD after to make sure..outside that its one of the best sealants that I have used to date

Just got my box in the mail (it was delayed due to the crappy weather) and had to go give it a quick test. I cleaned off a small section of the hood with speed shine and applied the UPP with a clean MF cloth. Just waiting for it to harden...T minus 10 minutes. :yay
