Four Star Ultimate Tire Protectant

I don't think I have ever seen a review of Four Star's tire dressing so here it is.

I applied the dressing on Saturday after cleaning the tires with A2Z to strip off the 3 week old Wolfgang. Used an Eagle One tire swipe to apply the dressing. It is very easy to use and actually seems to require less product than Pinnacle Black Onyx and Wolfgang Black Diamond, spreading very evenly and it does not cling to texture like the Wolfgang. I let it sit on the tires for about 30 minutes before wiping excess dressing off. After wiping the excess off the tires had a really nice, consistant sheen. While I cannot say anything about durability, this is definitely one of my favorite products for application.

BTW, it smells like bubble gum mouth wash for those that are curious.

Seems to be another quality product from Four Star. :)

The Wolfgang was in its grave once I removed what was left. Only parts of the tires had any sort of sheen with the majority being a flat black. To be fair, my tires did have a lot of dirt and dust on them...my less mature side came out when I found myself in a dirt parking lot with no one in sight. ;)

Please keep us informed on durability. As 1slow said that is the perfect shine. Its not too shiney yet not too dull IMO. I love what I see.

Today is day six and it rained most of the day yesterday. I am really disappointed with what I am seeing.

90% of the sheen is gone leaving just a flat black look:

This picture makes the tires look a lot nicer than they actually do:

The Pinnacle Black Oynx I put on my mom's vehicle 3, almost 4, weeks ago does not look much worse than the Four Star at 6 days. :(

Greg I'm disappointed to read that 4 Star tire dressing is dead after just one week; I liked the initial look too and was thinking about buying some to try along side a few other dressings I own.

One question, did you just apply one layer of dressing or two or more?

Thanks for the review and pics, much appreciated!

I assume it is water based but I really do not know.

Mike,

I always just do one coat of tire dressings. I think Wolfgang has been the most durable gel so far but it slings on me even after thoroughly wiping the tires.

Four Star claims excellent water resistance. If driving in the rain for one hour and sitting in it for two is water resistance, then it does as claimed.

I'm going to try the Four Star again before trying my samples of BnB and Z16.

I've had very good luck with Wolfgang. I like the matte look, and the durability. I have not had a lot of trouble with slinging. I seriously though about buying a 64 oz bottle when Wolfgang had that big sale a week or so back.

I'm also disappointed in the durabiltiy of the 4 Star. I was actually thinking about buying some too. Have you had a chance to retest it? I've been using Stoners but I'm always looking for something a little better.

I reapplied the Four Star yesterday. If this time will be anything like the first time, I'll be reporting back in just six days.

Since you did not respond in a while, does it mean your experience with this product was better this time around ?

The second application held up about as well as the first, and that is not saying much. Sorry, I thought I had posted the results.

I love the look of the Four Star so when I think there will be a period of clear weather, I will use it. Anything else and it will be Wolfgang of Z16 (Pinnacle turns to a deep, flat black after a week of good weather).
