Found my Zaino ZFX vs Souveran topper pics......

DETAILKING

Well, here they are. In Each set of pictures, one is of a few coats Zaino ZFX / Z5 / Z2 only, and the other has a souveran topper. The pictures were taken about a month apart, but in the same location, same relative time of day. I won't say which is which just yet. Make your own conclusions............

To take a guess,

1st Pic - souveran topped

2nd Pic - Zaino only

3rd Pic - souveran topped

4th Pic - Zaino only

Either way, simply stunning.

I don't know which is which, but on the side view of the car the top pic looks better, and on the frontal view I can't really tell a difference. You see more reflections on 1st pic, but I think that's because you parked in a different place.

I prefer the first/third pictures. The paint seems to have a deeper wetter look to it. My guess is these are Souveran topped.

1st and 3rd souveran topped... the reflections are darker...

you can't see the sunlight in the hood as well on the topped pics because souveran doesn't "grab" light like straight zaino does. ;)

only thing that really troubles me is in the second and fourth pics, the reflections aren't as crisp- they're muted like a carnauba-wax look would typically be. This goes against the other theory and against the whole principle property of zaino. :nixweiss So perhaps my initial theory is incorrect about the properties of souveran? or this one is wrong?? :o Seeing as how I've never witnessed souveran in person...

oh... and is it just me or does the tire dressing application not look as "freshly applied" in pics 2 and 4?? :shocked

Err, guys. I wouldn't jump on the conclusion with these pictures, yet. The pictures are not under identical condition. The 1st & 3rd have cooler color balance than the 2nd & 4th (look at the gravel, this would make the blue car look darker.). Also, the 3rd pic is noticable brighter than the 4th.

we definately need more threads like this because it's just so damn fun. i like the third pic better than the fourth pic - possibly souveran or possibly the lighting:nixweiss

Before I give myself a day of work reading your guesses, I will come clean.

I agree that because these pictures were taken on different days, lighting was different. All pictures are original, unaltered except for resizing and cropping.

For the record, I don't believe these pictures do any justice in relation to seeing the results first hand....especially in the differece of the resulting look the 2 products gave.

Now for the moment you have all been waiting for........

In each picture, the top pic is the ZFX only, and the bottom pic is the souveran topper. In other words, pic #1 and #3 are ZFX, and #2 and #4 are souveran topped.

dead give away is the 3rd pic, Zaino hood reflections look dull in direct sunlight. As in pic 3.

I'm sure there is a difference in real life...but I can't see any in the pictures. Also, LOL :D because everyone got the Z and sov. switched! hehehehe.

If I am reading these posts right, no one guessed correctly. Is that true? Very interesting thread.

Well I hesitated to guess after I played the pics in PS. I could make the car all look more or less the same. Actually, if you adjust the brightness of the 4th pic, the hood would look just as "dull" as the 3rd. But then if you increase the constrast in the darker region, everything comes back alive...

Great post, it just goes to show how difficult it is to differentiate a product without a proper control i.e. half hood tests etc.

Trying to tell what product was used on a very well maintained car is nearly impossible!

You could grab 10 black BMW 330, on each one prep the surface exactly the same and apply 10 different sealant / waxes. You would be hard figure out which product was used on which car. You'll be able tell there is a difference, and just maybe differentiate one or two but as the lighting won't be exactly the same on each car (shadows) etc it will be a challenge endeavor.

Now, if you apply the 10 products to one vehicle and know which one's are being applied, you'll be able to pick which one produces the look that you are after.

It would be cool to see more of these types of comparisons. It really helped during the whole Tire dressing (Endurance, TW, 303, Lexol) when a tire was applied with all 4 products in quadrants.

Or the GC vs. Zaino hood test a while back... (at least I think it was Zaino).
