Alright guys. Experimented this weekend on my wife's red 2006 car which we've owned since new and it's only gotten two coats per year of Liquid Glass. Well it now has 50k on it and it's a womens daily driver... so it's got shine, and it's not faded, but it aint new looking by any means! Heres what I did and love it!
Clay bar.
Meg's Swirl X. Using this as a "paint cleaner" and "siwrl/scratch remover" all in one. Whoops the pants off the old Meg's Step #1 paint cleaner. Really is a great product.
Meg's #7 polish glaze. You really don't need this step, this just picked up where the swirl x left off and took it a bit further. looks as if it's added some color depth.
Meg's Ultimate Spray Wax. Fast, great finish, doesn't turn trim white. Contains no waxes.
Results are stunning. the finish is 98% car show quality. :wow: The paint is deep, wet looking and has clear clarity. Looks awsome under florecents and in natural sun it looks dripping. Honestly looks better than the day we brought it home from the dealer. Prep work and proper use went a long way regardless of name brand. I haven't seen a finish like this since the car shows I used to do 10yrs ago. And the reality of it is all these steps are pretty quick and easy. Not like busting your A R S E back in the day. And the cost of the products isn't that bad. about $10/bottle and $15 for the clay bar kit. All products were found OTC locally.
If I wanted to use the liquid glass I'd use it right after the swirl X. I tried that combo and it turned out pretty amazing also, but the liquid glass option didn't add as much depth and wet look. More of a thin, hard sparkly finish, with less depth and not as much wet look.
My schedule is to do the clay bar, swirlX & #7glaze 2x/yr and use the ultimate spray wax after each wash which is 1x/month. So looks like I found something to work with now. I also must note that MicroFiber towels are a huge improvement. I'm also going to quit using the Absorber for drying, switchihng to a waffle weave, and for washing ditching the brissle brush and optiong for the wool mit. I'd like to thank all the folks on this site that helped me understand products and the processes (brand names aside). Thanks for the help.:thx
