Forever black cleaner....needed?

Hi, I am about to order some of this trim dye for a Ford Expedition. The kit comes with 4oz of cleaner and 4oz of the dye. Or I can just get 8oz of the dye. Is there something else I can clean it with and get good results? Cause if I order the stuff I don't want to only get 4oz. of it, but don't want to spend 25$ either. TIA

If your using this on the black rubber components to prep them I read a posting about cleaning the rubber trim and rubbing alcohol was used. Here is the thread

BTW I have used the Forever Black Tire gel which is a water based dye on my lower valances and it works great. 3 applications lasted from early spring to late fall.
