Ford paint

A question for the experts: Is Ford paint ('99-'09) soft or hard? I need to do some correction on my Explorer and Mustang.

Ford paint is hard, thin and cheap. Sometimes you will polish and polish away, and 95% correction is all you will be able to do. Some deeper scratches can be removed via wetsanding, but since there isn't much clearcoat to begin with it's sometimes better to leave a few RIDS than burn through the clear. Best of luck.

That is correct. Sometimes the paint is moderate on the hardness scale, but mostly I find it fairly hard and thin.

I went through the clear on my 05 superduty in 1 spot in no time at all using an orang ccs pad and m105.

Hey FordFan, was that with a Rotary or DA? I'm actually getting ready to tackle an 06 Redfire Mustang this weekend that is pretty heavily swirled and was going to test out an LC Orange and M105, so this post caught my eye.
