? for ScottWax or Joshvette - black vette

I'm looking at purchasing an 01 black coupe, and the finish has been cared for in the typical fashion. I have an UDM and Opt polish and Opt comp. with assorted LC foam pads. Will this be able to correct the GM black without buying SIP or 106ff? I had a black Honda and was able to correct about 90%, but it did take a very long time.

Guess I'm a glutton for punishment ... :nixweiss

I know your post is addressed to the other two, but C5/C6 is Vette paint is SUPER hard, and would require a minimum of SIP and an orange pad (and proably 3 times the time you took on your Honda) just to make a dent in the paint.

On a scale of 1(soft)-10(hard) paint, most honda's are a 2. Most Vette's are a 12 (seriously).

Its a diamond. Perhaps the OC and a lot of time would work as well (I have found that SIP cuts more on hard paint then OC, but my experience is limited).

With a rotary, yeah. With a UDM and some time, you may get 80% correction, got around 90% on a white Corvette with my Cyclo, yellow then orange pads, OHC to OC and 5 hours of polishing time. I find the burgandy Meguiars pad works better via UDM on harder paints than orange pads do with no increase in marring.

Thanks, guys. Just doesn't make sense about it being so hard but easy to mar. I've read similar threads asking the same question, never a real definitive answer.
