Foam Gun for $10

Went to Home Depot today and found this gun in the garden section. While it's really not a faom gun I decided to try it out for $10. I was surprised that it actually worked although the water pressure is not great it does create quite a bit of suds. I used Meguiar's pink liquid soap so I'm sure when I buy the Gold saop it should foam more. I washed my wife's Explorer that was dirty from a rainy weekend so it was a great test vehicle. Here are some pics.

Looks interesting. I would be curious as to how long it'll hold up for, being made of plastic. I haven't bought a FG yet but probably will in the future. The Explorer looks real nice... except the tires :beer_smil Thanks for shedding the light with pictures and info with a cheap alternative to a foam gun!

Thanks, yea the tires and wells needed more attention but I ran out of dressing. I wash my cars regularly so I think this gun is perfect for the average user.

The wheel wells don't really show in the picture on my computer so I can't tell what they look like, but what is supposed to be wrong with the tires. They look clean, they look black, they aren't shiny, what more could you want?

Charles,
i'm not positive but budman may be talking about the 2nd pic before the wash was complete..

Well when you see them up close you can notice some areas where I didn't cover w/the dressing but they still look good.

Looking at what I think is the finished vehicle, the tires are not very visible, but the rear ones look good to me. Can't really tell about the fronts.
I can't get up close. :)

Those type of guns aren't meant to foam. Rather they are guns designed to spray a dillution of chemical, more than likely garden chemicals. The foam gun from gilmour is actually designed to produce rich thick suds that carry a high concentration of car wash and also cling to the surface.

Those type of guns, as pictured above, can be found for 4.99 at most hardware stores.

Not saying it doesn't work or isn't helpful, as it is obviously producing a little bit of suds (by nature), it just isn't "foam" gun.

I have gone through a few of those Ortho Dial and Spray guns they only last about a year and that is only using them for spraying the bug killers around the yard that i use to help control ants and spiders. They get clogged up pretty easy just using the chemicals that they are designed for and most of those are very thing watery type bug killers.

The pics I took were after I had let the suds sit for about 5 mins and the wind was blowing like crazy. Also I set the dial too low, I found that when I increased the # on the dial the foaming got better. I'm not saying by any means that this compares to the real thing but it was worth a try and it will hold me off from buying a "real" one for a while. :D

Not the same thing as the Gilmour. I have the Gilmour, and the foam it produces looks like a bubble bath. The pictures you posted show a very thin layer of foam. You get what you pay for.
